When human hair falls out of a person who is deceased it has a dark ring around the base.
This is known as a "death band".
If the hairs that were found in Casey's trunk are proven to belong to Caylee through DNA & if they also have the "death band" then that is proof that Caylee is deceased
The death band (aka postmortem root band) is poorly understood, is only present on some hairs, believed to have something to do with growth stage - hairs in the process of natural shedding. Most often no post-mortem band is found in corpse hair, and not enough studys to determine if it occurs in living people. This may not be solid enough evidence, if other evidence doesn't support it.
