Go to the HRD thread and get the opinion of the SAR people. They clearly state that any well trained dog should hit on this exact scenario. They also clearly state another dog should be brought in blind for another go at the hit. This has been explained about a dozen times also or more.I have explained my theory on that about a dozen times on here. I still would love to get the opinion of one of our SAR people about that, but I don't think it would have been impossible for her to just walk to the river either.
I have seen her simply walk up the hill of their driveway. She barely managed that, let alone walk all the way to down to the river, across the railroad tracks (that is if no train is sitting on the tracks waiting for the grain elevator) and manage all of the terrain in the dark and then have to do the same in reverse to get back. It's pitch black down there. Let alone do it while taking the chance of leave the boys alone and not have one shred of evidence of such trip.
