I also found this explanation entirely plausible. If Jeremy was normally the one to turn off the lights and was more conscious about the lights, it would only make sense to wonder why all the lights were on when he was accustomed to them being off. I know I am the light turner offer in my house and there are times when come home and ask "why are all the lights on" when really it might just be the kitchen lights and bathroom light, but also because nobody is using those rooms. I also know I've repeated that same phrase to my kids thousands of times "why are all these lights on?!" It's never been every literal light in the house.
The lights, the front door unlocked, and the window being left open could easily be explained away by the fact that she was drunk.
