I am curious if the body was buried or not.

Typically if the victim is a family member or close associate, the body is nearby and/or carefully hidden.

If the perp is a random stranger or an incidental acquaintance, less care is spent concealing, the main thing is that the body remain undiscovered long enough for them to make a get away.

So, if the body was buried, then look at people close to her, if it was out in the open then someone not that close to her (or a stranger).

I wish I could go back and find the video of Freida from yesterday -- she said she's confident that area was searched before. I wouldn't be surprised if Hailey was buried at one point, and with the droughts and high winds, the body was uncovered after a search (especially if the search teams haven't gone back out in a year or so). I don't know the timeline, so I'm speculating. I also heard there are wild pigs in the area. Does anyone know if that's true? Because that image horrifies me.

As far as I know they BOTH failed their polys.

I have received such a great out pouring of love & condolences,so much so that I couldn't name you all individually. Thank you to everyone who held hope up until we couldn't any longer. My hope has ended,but now closure can begin for me,my beautiful son & husband,all our family & friends. My baby has been found. Now to get her home where she belongs & get her justice. I think this could be quite possible. Yes, there are wild hogs all over the place in this area. Coyotes, bobcats and other critters too. I think there are several possibilities as to why they only found a few bones. I do NOT believe she was ever in water anywhere here. I don't believe water has been in the area she was found in a long time. I DO believe that her body COULD have been moved from one place to another AFTER this area had been searched.

Of course, all just my opinion here, speculating.

I just hope an arrest is made soon and someone tells all to save their butt.

Texas is a death penalty state and we use it often in cases like this.

I'm relieved that the remains have been identified as Hailey's. It's so sad that another beautiful child is gone too soon. My heart goes out to her parents and grandparents and her brother, as well as all her friends who loved her.
I do not believe Billie had anything to do with this, and I think that will be proved eventually. I do think Shawn is guilty, however, and I hope justice is swift and sure.

This news, although expected, is so heartbreaking. It's beyond sad to think that Hailey will never know the wonderful experiences of life, first love, prom, first apartment, career, marriage, a family of her own all because of the depraved actions of those responsible for her death. I've followed this case all along but stopped posting early on because I just couldn't restrain myself when it came to anything BJD said.

I hope justice is swift and sure.

Her remains were not found close to the lake or where the lake was in December 2010. You can see on the map in my signature where they were found. Reports at the time from LE made it clear that they had nothing to do with the lake.

How far is this from SA grandmothers home....
Is it on or off the same road?

IIRC ...as its been a long time ago but didnt cell pings or time frame show a period of time spent near here that morning that was unaccounted for??

Does anyone recall that or is my mind confusing the facts.

I'm glad some of Hailey's clothing was discovered with her remains.
Was she dressed in the clothes Shawn said she was wearing when she left the house or was she dressed in pajamas? She was wearing flip flops when she vanished.

If Hailey was in the lake, would her clothing stay with her remains or float away?

I can't see why Billie should fear Shawn now, if she ever did. If he is the suspect, he will certainly be watched. I do not really believe she feared him anyway. She kept him around a long time after Hailey was gone.

Shawn comes off to me as a very violent person who is into violence. Maybe he was like that towards Billie. I did forget about her failing the Poly but didn't she take an ativan beforehand or something which you are not supposed to do before taking one?

I was working in the yard, planting flowers and just started sobbing.. for Hailey, Somer, Jessica, Caylee, babies that are buried in back yards.. you all know the stories, the horror these and so many others endure on this earth. Children that are discarded like trash, some by strangers, some by those who were suppose to protect them.

I do not only sob for all of them, but all of you. All of you who pray and continue to hope for justice. I just don't see it though. Justice has become something of an illusion to me. Even when they are caught and found guilty. There is not enough pain in prison to provide any justice imo. And so many just walk free to do destroy again and again. I could provide links, but I am speaking to you ws'ers who have been here for the long haul, over and over. You know these cases better than some LE attached to them.

In Somer's case, LE was focused on one individual. I know they had tunnel vision. They were determined to find the evidence to prosecute him. There was just enough weirdness and suspicion around this person to make it possible. Turned out he is just strange, and good hearted and a good neighbor who likes Gin.

I have no doubt in my mind that the monster JH would have never been found if not for his past roommates who knew him and never gave up trying to convince LE to LOOK at HIM!

The horror that Somer's family lived through, not just from her murder, but the way they were scrutinized, vilified, and picked apart is something I will never forget.. especially my own part in it. Its something that they all still live with today, long after Jarred Harrell took his plea bargain.

Thank you WS for your rules that I once thought were too harsh on this subject of not bashing the victims family. My heart goes out to Clint and Connie and Billie and David.

I hope whoever did this is caught so they can't do it again. I keep faith that justice is served when we leave this earth. And until then, I imagine all these angels welcoming each other home. Dancing, cheering, and shining above. And I am thankful for all of you that give me hope in humankind through each of these tragedies.

This is the lake near where the remains were found, in October of 2008 and then again in November of 2012. It shows water levels at those two points in time. Unfortunately I cannot find an overhead in google earth of 2010 to show water level then, but surely we can extrapolate given the drought, that the level would be about halfway in between the first and second levels? I am posting them as links because the actual pictures are quite large.

Wow! That is a significant drop in water levels. I can see how an unsuspecting criminal would think they could put a body there (sorry Hailey!! ) and hope it wouldn't be found, not realizing that the levels were dropping and nature would uncover the truth.
