Decorah, IA - Bald Eagle Cam: Watch the babies! #2

  • #241
I have become obsessed with this camera! I just found it today, but I have left it on all day and found an excuse to run to the computer frequently! Just what I needed - a new obsession to explain to my husband! I so hope the storms dissipate for everyone's sake.

Welcome to the thread Raennan! Re: husband- mine already thinks I am nuts because I am always reading about "murders and missing people" and have to find my "Kyron friends" when any news about Ky comes up lol. When I showed him the eagle cam I got another eye roll at first but now he is addicted to it too. :giggle:

My Hubby has watched about... 3 minutes of it. But somehow, when I went to bed the other night, I turned off the laptop. He gets home at 11:30 every other weekend and .. amazingly.. the eagle cam turned itself on in the middle of the night!!! He's actually a member of WS. We're both addicted to "out of the ordinary" things.

Kind of trippy that she off the babies for so long but I bet they are all keeping each other warm now. Mama probably gets hot and/or gets tired of the constant movement :)

Yikes! There was a HUGE bug that just crawled down the front of the camera! I am sure it was a bug, but it looked more like a giant rat! If it had been a giant rat, I feel certain the Mom would have secured breakfast. I have been impressed with how attentive she is to her babies. She diligently feeds them, takes care of the nest to make it neat and perfect, and is constantly vigilant for danger. She reminds me of why I love animals.

LOL LaWanda! That's very cool that your hubby has the same interests. Mine doesn't seem to understand it but he puts up with me anyways. :) He calls me his dark and twisty girl. :giggle:

Love that video showing the eaglet growing up. Thanks for sharing it!

I am so lucky to live in a rural area of Manitoba where I see bald eagles regularly. When I lived by the river, they used to sit in the tree behind my house. Once, my husband and I were blessed to see 2 eagle parents teaching a young eagle how to fly. The youngster was airborne, but they were showing it how to turn and circle -- it was so fascinating. You could hear them calling to each other, right in back of our house over the river. They are such beautiful creatures!

Just checked the family...doesn't look like they have bad weather right now.
I wish that momma could sleep sitting up!

Looks like Mom is worn out from her busy day, wonder why she doesn't cuddle them underneath her and sleep? Weather watching maybe? I see flashes and hear thunder.

I cannot believe the hours I have watched this family and what I have seen in just one week. I sent a link to family, they looked once and nothing was going at at that time so they never went back...

Is she poking holes in the nest so it won't fill with water? Oh, and she gave Sassy a nip.
