Decorah, IA - Bald Eagle Cam: Watch the babies! #2

Holy Cow...Sassy is enormous compared to Finally. Wow...talk about growth spurt. I think he's fine...just too big to fit under parents any more.

Mom is in need of another spa treatment today. Her hair is all messed up...LOL! One of my favorite things to watch is when dad is cleaning up the nest. He almost has OCD about the way the nest looks. I just love watching them period.

Maybe he just wants his own room. :floorlaugh:

I was just about to post the same thing. Plus sometimes one eaglet sleeps through a feeding. They seem to always make up for it the next time around.

I am shocked every day at how much bigger they've gotten. There is still a huge difference between Sassy & Wobble vs. Finally. Surely she'll catch up one of these days!!

Has anyone been able to tell if the babies are boys or girls? And which is which?

I thought Sassy was snatched and replaced with an alien. Geesh, that bird transformed overnight! I love how E3 (Finally) stays close to Mom and Dad.

Oh boy, Sassy right on the edge again. I can't even watch.

Ha, ha Sassy was just flapping her/his wings. I haven't figured out how to tell the little ones apart yet. Mum and Dad I have figured. My sister says that they hang out in the nest until they are pushed out if they don't try to fly on their own. I guess that'll be in May sometime.

Here's my guess on gender.

Sassy might be a girl. Her mouth goes back beyond her eye like her mums. Wobbly looks like a boy. Mouth goes back to just below his eye. Finally, I don't know.

eventually mom and dad won't bring so much food.. their tummies will push them to fly

Glad to see Sassy back with the others. I was getting worried.

Dad arrived home with, I think, a crow for supper. He pulled feathers and they blew all over the nest, LOL! Wonder who gets to clean that up?

so I've been wondering if mom/dad flew by one of their youngsters someday, would they recognize each other?

LadyL - you should ask that on the discussion page of the RapterResource FB. They have been answering many questions over there. I would be very interested in learning that answer very much.
