Decorah, IA - Bald Eagle Cam: Watch the babies! #2

  • #521
The gross factor of the feedings is one of the biggest attractions for my kids. They think the babies are ugly/adorable and all and enjoy watching the nest, but the most popular times by far in my household are feeding times.

Thanks again for turning us all onto this unique opportunity peeples. I love when I find ways to both entertain and educate my kids and thanks to you, this nest has been that for them.

Can someone please tell the director of this drama to ask mama to mover her behind? I can't see the babies for goodness sake.
:crazy::crazy:

BBM - as I was putting the Eagle's nest site up on BOTH of our computers last night I kept thinking I need to let Peeples know again how grateful I am for the link and this opportunity to see bald eagles and eaglets. Truly this has been a remarkable experience and one I probably would have missed out on had it not been for your link, Peeples. Thank you so very much!!!

I have six pine trees that have nests of all kinds of birds. When there are eggs or chicks, the hawks come around to steal. The little birds start sending out a signal and about 10-15 birds start trying to attack the hawk! The little finches build their nests in my sticker bushes - safe from other birds and cats too.

Just discovered today that we have a pair of bald eagles in my neighbourhood...eastern Canada. They have built the nest here for the 1st time. Noone knows if there are babies (no webcam) but the eagles seem to hunt one at a time. You can't get anywhere the nest but can see it through binoculars.

BTW if someone set up one of these cameras to watch spider eggs hatch...then it really would be a 'web' cam. :floorlaugh:

Dad just brought a fish back and was feeding Mom bites. Then, she started to help herself and he fussed at her! She is feeding herself and the kids, he went to another fish and is eating and feeding the kids. I like this couple...

I have baby hummingbirds just about every year. Several years ago after a week long rain storm, I made my husband put a small ornamental umbrella over their nest. It worked! Was fortunate to see their first flight a week later.

I am so hooked on this eagle family, lol. But no matter what time I check in, there are folks still arguing over owl attack or not owl attack, which is the mom and which is the dad and then the profanity...always somebody to ruin the fun, lol.

Is the weather report still saying snow and ice for tomorrow for our lil family? I think its must be getting cold. It seemed to me earlier that one of the lil ones was shivering. And now mom is really packing the "straw" around the bowl under her to keep them warm.

It's late but Mom is wide awake. Wonder why she is so alert.

Very windy this morning. Both parents are at the nest. The babies are almost totally covered; it must be cold.

Feeding time!! Once again, dad is giving huge chunks of food to the little ones. Those men, they just don't get it.

The babies are getting so big that I can't tell them apart anymore. It looks cold and windy in IA today. I want to give them a blanket!

Delish, huh? I can tolerate watching them eat the fish better than the red meat animals. Somehow it's not so disgusting.

Whoa, dad is messing with a huge branch behind the nest. What on earth is he trying to do??? Now he just hit mom in the head with it and she's trying to push it away. This is rather comical!

Man is this tree rockin' and rollin' - even more than that nasty night. It makes me nervous to watch the nest swaying back and forth like that. lol
