I'm just about in eagle withdrawal after being away from the computer most of the afternoon. I trust everyone is doing fine?

I had to log off the cam-- was not sure what was going on and was too scared to look any more!! Must be a pigeon or some sort of bird that they got for the next meal. Eeek!

Interesting breakfast waiting for them. It's raining. I hope all the severe weather missing these guys.

Okay, I'm not going to peek in on the webcam if there is a dead pigeon in the nest. I think I'll wait a while and give them a chance to move it or eat it...LOL! As long as I know all the babies are safe, I think I'll be fine to wait until this afternoon to tune in.

They look more miserably cold this morning than I've ever seen them. :( I know they're birds and I know they're used to this stuff but I'm human and I'm not! I wish they didn't have to suffer through this miserable spring we've been experiencing. Hope it warms up for them soon.

I can't tell what it is that's dead but it looks more like a rabbit or something. I see fur, not feathers, but with everything wet, I could be wrong.

When I first saw it, it scared me to death. And our chicks were hidden - then I could see it was smaller. But it is a young chick of some kind, maybe just fell out of a nest.

Mama and Papa just fed the children. They all look so wet and miserable. Mama needs a blow dry and feather styling! LOL!

I'll bet when her pips fly the nest and her motherly duties are finished she will be seen flying around squawking....

Please tell me I'm not the only one with my weather set to Decorah, IA on my home page. Looks like their first sunny day will be Friday and then more rain after that. :(

There is another eagles nest with a cam at Norfolk Botanical Garden and the pair have been together much longer then our eagles and the momma got killed by a jet today...I'm sooo sad :( but another part of me is slightly relieved it wasn't our momma. I came rushing over hear when I first heard I was so scared!

  • #857
Ohhh, I'm so sorry to hear that. Did they have babies right now justice?

  • #858
Yes they did and the dad has not been back to the nest since it happened, he's haning out in a near by tree. The babies are almost big enough to feed on their own but not quite. The officials are going to give it a little longer and might have to go into the nest and rescue the babies. It's so sad :( She fed the babies this morning and then flew off and got hit by the plane shortly after :(
