Defense FINALLY Begins Depo Process

Speaking of Geraldo and his boat, I wonder if any of Baez news contacts will ask him about this statement Nums24 kindly posted in today news.

Casey Anthony: Geraldo Rivera says ‘clearly guilty’ Casey Anthony faces ‘absurd overprosecution’

http://blogs.orlandosentinel.com/ent...osecution.html

<snipped>
“Casey is a selfish, self-involved dimwit,” Rivera said. “But to seek to kill her, because she killed that sweet baby is an absurd overprosecution and will color the whole prosecution.”

Rivera described Anthony as “someone who’s clearly guilty, nobody has many doubts about that. To put her on the same plane with a mass killer has no kind of possible justification. I believe she did it. She’s responsible. The defense would never concede that and is going for actual innocence. They have a case, long shot it may be. You take this out of context of capital murder, the state’s chances of success are far higher.”

And what about Rivera’s friend Baez? “He was up here for my birthday,” said Rivera, who is 67. “We’ve been friends since I got to know him through TV. We share a common ethnic heritage.”

I have a question for Mr. Rivera - just how much is the life of "that sweet baby" worth? It's okay to murder one "sweet baby" but oh no - not a nice or good thing to kill a mass? WTH? Come out of the sun Mr. Rivera, clearly all that brilliance has fried your brain cells you use for reasoning.

Thanks for the heads up - I think this is probably the 35 LE depositions that were scheduled for one day -- Friday - but they split them up to start on Thursday (today)... MuzikMan will get the document ...

I think it probably is too. I sort of got the impression that the defense is trying to cut corners in spending their time taking depos, but they know this is something that they should be doing in order to represent their client.

What are the chances that they would call any of these people besides maybe and expert or two? Zip..Nada..None They are wasting time and money just like they have all along. What a bunch of BS. IF any of these people have anything to offer they would spend more than 14.1 minutes on them. Nothing like another dog and pony show from the defense.

Speaking of Geraldo, in a differant vein, I have often wondered if he has fronted the defense cash in advance/exchange for some big breaking story when this finally folds up.

He and Baez became very chummy, very quickly, and, it was around the same time that it appears that some money was deposited into Casey's get out of jail account through her attorney...

Geraldo is also the ONLY ONE/interviewer that I have EVER heard refer to Casey as a 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬, and other names, that I'm sure that Baez would have sent Cindy and her hammer after for such name calling ~
Why can he get away with the constant name calling and saying on air that she is guilty as all get out??
Futhermore, why does he seem to not be effected nor even let it bother him to say such things?

If I remember correctly, early on, people had speculated that Geraldo was the "rich person from Conn." that was backing Casey.

I have never understood the reasoning that infanticide is less of a crime than murdering an "average person".

To me, our children are a precious responsibility given to us individually to protect, love and raise to maturity. Our laws protect parenthood and our rights to keep those children as our "own".

To my way of thinking, to violate that responsibility with the ultimate horror of infanticide, is a far worse crime than the taking of a life of a person who is an adult, and the punishment should be far more severe, not less.

Our children are not part of our material belongings - we cannot kill and discard them as if they are an old wornout appliance or piece of furniture.:furious:

You put my thoughts to words precisely!

Well, unprofessional doesn't begin to describe this one. 35 depos in 2 days...umm on what planet? How is there even a pretense of this nonsense being accomplished? They have had years to get most of these done...and they have waited until now?

Why weren't they doing these 6 months ago? 10 months ago?? I assume at this point that JB and CM will be working nights and Saturdays (pro bono too I LOVE that). How can this conduct even be allowed?

I guess Baez thought he was clever by basically saying it was the SA's fault for not releasing discovery to them, and that they may have to go back to ask more questions on previous depos...I think that's what he was saying. Makes no sense. I'm sure there's a way to add or amend the depos they already had done. I don't know why Baez is still able to practice law, but it is a horrible, horrible reflection on attorneys and it's only going to get worse as this slug of a process drags on.

BBM to address.

I wonder if Geraldo thinks the DP is reserved for mass or serial killers only? And if he does, where do you suppose he got that idea? Surely not from the same doofus who thinks one lone juror voting not guilty results in an acquittal?

You haven't asked for my opinion HF, but I'm offering it anyway.

I think Baez knows he is out of his depth, his client is unbelievably guilty, he faces a mound of indisputable evidence, and if you'll excuse the term, he's going to get slaughtered at trial.
I think he's like a little kid who has to do something he really really doesn't want to do, so he's dragging his heels, stalling as things (anything!) catches his attention and generally doodling around before he has to face his ultimate humiliation - which will be defending ICA at trial. If his behavior wasn't so annoying, I'd feel sorry for him. Kinda.......:banghead:

I always thought that Geraldo gave some money to the defense, but I don't think he is a "big" backer.

I started a thread on the Geraldo interview we've been talking about on this thread.

I think this is just the defense way around HHJP's deadline. They will look hard working and put upon by doing all these depos in a rush to meet the deadline.

Then they will call back those they really want later after the deadline, saying it is all the SA's fault for holding back info.

So....Mr Baez gets to do depos later than the judge's deadline called for.

Well, I for one am so glad that JB could find a moment of time to wish GR a happy birthday due to his extremely busy schedule. Oh wait, he actually got on a plane, flew to Jersey for the weekend and didn't even give ICA a thought. I say this with my most sincere tone of sarcasm ..... sheeze, can't pay his mortgage, cries poor to HHJP and the JAC, yet wastes time and money flying to a birthday party. More sarcasm from me.

Betcha ICA was really pizzed over that move. CA/GA/LA take a cruise on her dime, now JB is abusing her ....... now that is funny.

Bingo! You sure called this one right Paintr:

"Anthony Defense to Take 35 Depositions

Defense Says It Will Do More Extensive Depositions Later"

Wouldn't this still need to be inside the scope of HHJP deadlines for depos??? Don't they still need to follow those? This is like a side step and following BUT NOT FOLLOWING the Judges orders (see the pattern here????? :furious:)--Think they are trying to delay this even more BUT HHJP saw thru that one and I truly doubt that JB & CM would ever win on this arguement, since HHJP already stated that those depos which should have been done a year ago....can't really claim lack of time for delay....does this make sense????? Certainly hope the defense team is keeping track of their time and using it wisely---HHJP will be!

Isn't it a tad ironic that they complain about to much discovery being released yet state that they don't have enough to conduct a proper depo?????

Seems like they'll be rushing through these depos and how does that give ICA a good defense???

This is the slithering way of getting his time schedule met. JBP stated, only if the defense has a good reason would he extend those deadlines. How does dragging ones feet get on the good side of His Honor? Well, Judge, I did try my best but it's just too many at one time! DUH...you had 2 years to get this act together. You mean to tell me, only when His Honor makes you put your nose to the grindstone is when you start your investigations??? Maybe if Baez didn't put so much energy in trying to find a scapegoat, he would put those energies where they truly belong..I just dont' see this as a competent move...JMHO

Justice for Caylee

I think the Judge will be furious, and especially since he'll be learning it from the news media. LDB specifically brought these concerns up at the staus hearing.
ITA LLL but think this will backfire in a huge way. They're still way behind and getting further so. Next time JBP will set their schedule and maybe it will be a schedule that favours the states availability.
I have problems with the idea they don't know exactly what each person on the states witness list is there for at this point. Seems to me if you really have an ahhhhh defense like JB says he does, you wouldn't be worried about deposing the person who answered 911 call number 2 or the gal who carried out an evidence bag at all.
