They tried to secure the services of Chip and Dale, but they are not taking new clients. They are currently considering Alvin, Simon and Theodore but being that they are chipmunks and not squirrels a final decision has not been made.

One night when my son was little (around 3 or 4), we had a co-worker and her family over for dinner. My son came into the kitchen VERY impatient and said, I wanna see the Chippendales, I wanna see the Chippendales.

It has been 4 months; whatever smell that was is gone, if there is a residue of it, it sure will not effect anyone as the original smell did.
BUT that car should have never been cleaned by George, and IMHO as an "ex" LE he knew better.

I doubt that the smell of a rotting cadaver in the trunk of her car is gone. In fact, I doubt that it will ever be gone, and in the end, they will have to get rid of that car to a junk yard as that will be all it will be worth. Human cadaver is a LINGERING scent.

I just wonder if Dr. Henry Lee told Baez that the smell in Casey's car IS the smell of HUMAN decomposition? Dr. Lee has smelled it so very many times. I also wonder if he talked to the Anthony's? Maybe that is why they cancelled out on the Nancy Grace show tonight. Dr. Lee may have given them the news that he could not be of any help in their defense case.

Will the prosecution be able to have the jury smell the car?

I wonder about this also and I believe they SHOULD make them smell the car. This is one piece of strong and undeniable evidence: the scent in the car will be recognizable as human cadaver to anyone who has ever smelled it before.

You are very right! I work in the Medical Examiners office and the smell of death never goes away. Never, no matter how much cleaning, and air freshener and whatever else it always lingers on the surface or somewhere in the air...

Did Baez have the opportunity to smell the car before Henry Lee was brought in? I think Baez made a hugh blunder. Henry is supposed to be a world renowned forenscis pathologist, the smell of human decomposition should be second nature to them.

If Baez didnt smell the car first, then he should have listened to everyone saying that smell is unique and will never go away therefore, dont hire an expert to say what the smell is.

If he did smell the car first and still hired someone then he is really an idiot and way over his head with this case.

If Henry says its not human decomposition then he is a liar flat out.

They should have kobi smell it and then go on NG and and explain what it is.

They should bring in a bunch of regular people that have smelled human decomp and have them smell the car to tell them what it is, heck we wouldnt even charge the defense.

Anyways, I think Baez made a big big blunder with bringing in an expert to examine the car..how are they going to explain the truth?

What makes you think they will try to explain the truth? Even truth is malleable. And they will not feel obligated to adhere to it, anyway.

If the prosecution chooses to do this it will be one of those motions debated during the case. the judge will have to rule on this, I'm sure. the defense will certainly object!

on the news last night WFTV said Dr. Lees charges are 300.00 an hour. It did not say if they were being paid or if this job was free, just that he charges 300.00 an hour.

Either the defense will go with "it wasn't Caylee" or "it wasn't human" depending on which they think is the best strategy. So count on Lee to attack the hair evidence or the VOC evidence--maybe both.

I am happy (?) that the smell of the car was still strong and that Baez got to smell it. Regardless of the theories and whatever defense they try to come up with at trial, At least now he too will know there was a dead body in that car. I dont begrudge the fact that he has a job to do in defending a murderer, but I also I dont begrudge him repeated nightmares over it either.

Maybe now he will stop publicly supporting Casey with his insane comments about her "compelling reasons" and that we will all understand after the trial.

The defense will probably qualify for state (county?) funded reimbursement. Since Casey has no funds she would be considered indigent. In other words, the public will be paying for much of her defense. :furious:

Nope, Henry Lee is NOT a pathologist. A pathologist is a medical doctor who then goes on to specialize in pathology. A forensic pathologist specializes even more - specializing in legal issues.

Henry Lee is NOT a medical doctor. He has some sort of a doctorate in science. There was a questioning of his credentials by the prosecution during the first Phil Specter case. The records for his doctorate degree were requested and to my memory were somehow never provided.

In addition, the judge at the first Phil Specter trial came right out on the bench and stated that in his opinion (the judge's opinion) Dr. Lee had not been truthful during his testimony in a hearing that was part of the trial. The hearing was regarding a piece of evidence that had been collected by Dr. Lee and then disappeared. Dr. Lee was the last person seen with it - as per photographs and testimony of other defense attorneys present at the crime scene.

I can't imagine any defense attorney who would want to use him after that incident . But then again, Jose Baez may not have followed the Specter case.

My own personal experience with a death smell: One time when my son was about 10 yr. old his hamster went missing. After about a week or so we began to smell a nasty smell in his bedroom. It seemed to be coming from one certain corner of the room.

The smell - which was enough to "gag a maggot" - reached a crescendo after about 2 weeks or so and then started to fade away. But the fading away took about 3 months or so!

My then-husband said the hamster had most likely somehow gotten into the wall and died and that he could either start ripping the wall apart or we could wait it out until the smell disippaited.

We chose to wait it out. My son slept in another room throughout that time. We kept the door to the room closed and the windows open with a fan at the window drawing air outwards.

So, that was from a tiny hamster! On the one hand I was surprised to hear that Casey's car still reeked of the smell of decomposition after all this time.
BUT - now I figure the carpeting in the trunk must have been really soaked with "body juice" (sorry to use that term, I don't know any other to use).

This is surely not going to bode well for the defense.
