To clear up this issue , here is the governing statute from Florida law.
They would be destined to see the car on a view, with or without the odor, in my opinion. It is easily accomplished logistics wise and brings clarity to the events in question.
If the view is also a view and sniff, so be it...

918.05 View by jury.--When a court determines that it is proper for the jury to view a place where the offense may have been committed or other material events may have occurred, it may order the jury to be conducted in a body to the place, in custody of a proper officer. The court shall admonish the officer that no person, including the officer, shall be allowed to communicate with the jury about any subject connected with the trial. The jury shall be returned to the courtroom in accordance with the directions of the court. The judge and defendant, unless the defendant absents himself or herself without permission of court, shall be present, and the prosecuting attorney and defense counsel may be present at the view.

If I were in trouble, I'd take him on my defense team.

I think the calling in of such a big gun as Dr. Lee is a sign of how serious Casey's situation is. You don't need that kind of expense and name to go against measly evidence.

I don't think you have kept up very well with Henry Lee. Everyone knows the guy has become a joke. A jury eating out of his hand? No LOL! Maybe 15 years ago but not now.. he sold out a long time ago.

Did Baez have the opportunity to smell the car before Henry Lee was brought in? I think Baez made a hugh blunder. Henry is supposed to be a world renowned forenscis pathologist, the smell of human decomposition should be second nature to them.

Lee's job will probably be to cast doubt on the Body Farm results and to confuse the jurors' minds about the decomposition in the trunk. Either the defense will go with "it wasn't Caylee" or "it wasn't human" depending on which they think is the best strategy. So count on Lee to attack the hair evidence or the VOC evidence--maybe both.

I always wondered if that causes some jurors to just tune him out completely since they can only understand bits of what he says.

If Dr. Lee was hired by the defense and finds nothing the defense can use in court, can he be called as a witness by the prosecution? Not saying he would... just could he???

Yes, but then the state will have to pay his appearance fees, not the defense.

I just ran a search and it appears Florida is a state that has a reciprocal discovery obligation. I'm not sure how it falls in line with what's released to the public though. It's just a guess, but I'd imagine it would be released the way the state's evidence is. Of course, with the state asking for a gag order, if that's granted, we might not get to see it till trial if it's even admissible.

I'm just guessing though. Maybe someone who knows more will clear it up further.

If Dr. Lee generates a written expert report then, yes, the state will get it in advance. If there's no written report, then we'll have to wait to see what he has to say at trial.

A jury's inspection of evidence too large to bring in the courtroom, such as the vehicle itself, may be done but the state must follow certain procedural protocol in order to be able to do it without any hitches at trial (e.g., file appropriate notice/request, affording the defense advance notice, etc.) It cannot be requested/done as an ambush, AND it is subject to defense objections (e.g., whether the potential for it being inflamatory is outweighed by the probative value, etc.) You can expect a defense objection to the jury smelling a vehicle it will claim hasn't been proven to have ever held a deceased Caylee (and, no, I don't think, with what I've seen in the expert testing thus far, that the objection or motion to strike would be sustained, I'm just pointing out that this is what would usually be argued.)
