Luckily, as we are human, we know what was meant, so that's ok.Well, 'parted' has not so far occurred in Google translations of these accounts, as far as I remember, and 'partnered' always means something quite different though it has one similar component. Dismembering isn't exactly a concept that's subtle or culture-specific.
However, I did suggest that the original Danish word, 'parteren',might have more than one meaning and the computer had picked the wrong one. I don't know if our Danish contributors can comment.
I don't think the peculiar efforts of Google in this regard necessarily reflect the difficulties we are familiar with in human translation of words not directly translating into another language.
I always remember that years ago in school, in French I had said to the teacher, " je suis enteinte" to mean that I was welcome. (Like the phrase "enteinte cordiale" I thought) He got really embarassed and said you shouldn't say that. But didn't explain any further. I later got to realise that I was saying something like "I am pregnant". No wonder.
