Would the shootings of the service members make this a federal crime?

It would definitely make it capital murder, but it is capital murder anyway.

They have stated they are looking at ten counts of first degree murder and sixty one counts of attempted first degree murder. Hmmmm..... why ten and not twelve, I am confused by this....

It is still early, that stuff can change. I heard one person was shot and killed in another theater, the bullet went through the wall, that may not be premeditated killing as he didnt intend to kill that particular person in that circumstance, but I am just grabbing straws, I am sure the evidence is speaking to them wrt this sort of thing.


It is not what they know it is what can be proven in court, in this case sure they know he seemingly meant to kill 12 people but they may not be able to prove first degree in all 12 instances. However, I would suggest the charges will change over time as they learn more about what made him do this and what his motivation for it was.

Which he obviously does, people dont do what he did because of a few instances of rage, he had something building in him whether others picked up on it or not. I am hearing he was in med school dont know if that is true or not, others say it was a PhD program but if it were med school they generally screen for mental health issues as that is a program of study and profession where one can easily "snap" if they cant deal with pressure, rejection etc.

They said that it could be federal due to the bombs if they are bombs in his apt. They also said due to the long rifle they could step in with federal charges, waiting to see.

Also he was at Colorado University for Neuroscience going for PhD, no idea if that means going to be a doctor or what?

The other two died in the hospital. While it seems obvious to assume cause of death, they would have to wait on autopsy results for those to confirm that the cause of death was related only to the gunshot wounds.

The reporter on CNN just made reference to the unfounded rumor of the theater patron opening the emergency room door....

that is FALSE according to investigators.

This mass murderer acted alone.

More than one witness on CNN/HLN have stated that someone took a cell phone call and went over, opened the exit door and carried on the conversation. How would investigators know every detail if they were not in the theater? I would think they have not yet interviewed every one of them.

I have been on that for a few hours now and I seems it is legit, she had not even heard about the crime, when she was told she said you have the right person, he is the one, meaning her son.

So that is INTERSTING, maybe he needed money and had to drop out of school and threatened to hurt people if mom and dad didnt cave in to demands.

Also wrt to terrorism I think we need to be careful about tossing that word around a little too much and defining it so broadly as doing so does no service to our freedom and civil rights, we need to define that word and stick to it and not start calling everything like this terrorism.

I was listening to Sirius XM a cutie hours ago and someone interviewed suggested there is a strong possibility that they might demo the building he lived in due to the beyond dangerous conditions.

Haven't heard additional info on this.

I'm not talking about his hair. I'm talking about coming into the theater with his bullet proof vest, throat guard, and head gear as well as other protective gear, while carrying a rifle would not draw suspicion, to me it sure as heck would!!!

He didn't enter with everyone else, LE said he entered through an EXIT door.

People who abuse and molest children don't deserve to be beaten? I'd have to disagree.

They may deserve it. But what someone may deserve and what we, as a civilized society, allow our professionals to do, are two different things. We believe, collectively, in the rule o0f law, in due process, etc. Oh, I'd love to see at least one good punch to some of these perverts we read about, but that's why I am not a trained police officer!

Yes they say in light of what has happened they are pulling all ads for the movie. They also are beefing up security in many locations where movie is playing and some are canceling show for weekend, they are afraid of a troll or copycat. I don't have a link, I am watching it on local news, Nine news Denver.

IIRC, it was stated earlier that no one has found a fb page for him. And that there is at least one person who changed their pic to "it wasn't me".
