They may deserve it. But what someone may deserve and what we, as a civilized society, allow our professionals to do, are two different things. We believe, collectively, in the rule o0f law, in due process, etc. Oh, I'd love to see at least one good punch to some of these perverts we read about, but that's why I am not a trained police officer!

Breaks my heart. I so hope he survived.

Me too

I just checked out the warner bros website and it is still covered in batman stuff

so sad what an act of terror can do and how far it spreads (re: even the economy)

He didn't enter with everyone else, LE said he entered through an EXIT door.

It seems he may have entered at some point, then exited and propped open a back door. Maybe he changed in the car and then came back in that open, back door?

Now if this guy was a gun control nut and went and started shooting people like he did with the INTENTION of scaring and trying to influence everyone to support more gun control, one could make a case that is terrorism, in fact it would be.

Thanks for all the information and updates. Just horrific...my condolences to all the families and friends of the victims.

It's so sad when someone who is troubled for whatever reason chooses to take it out on innocent people they don't even know instead of seeking help for their problems. This person was full of rage and revenge and had to have planned this for a good while. No answers will ever be sufficient to explain this type of indiscriminant violence to me.

The two separate attacks reminds me of Breiviks manifesto. Perhaps his plan was for someone to trigger his bomb (lured by the loud, repetitive music) and while emergency forces were heading their he planned to be in the movie theatre committing his other atrocities.

Speculation on my part, but he was clearly of reasonable intelligence and took time to plan his deeds, its not impossible that he drew upon Breiviks tactics. JMO

Wonder if he did a "dummy run" and had practice before this night.

They are on now talking about not sending in the robot to his apt. today, they are afraid that the robot will detonate the bombs, losing evidence. They say its not harmful to people, but they are going to go in slowly as there is no going back if they go too far. They say either later tonight or tomorrow at soonest. They cannot lose the evidence in that building. Black lab is there and is sniffing outside building....

I've seen a lot of chatter about this today, and I wonder about it too. I really wonder if that music was meant to somehow get someone to trigger a detonation.

I have been on that for a few hours now and I seems it is legit, she had not even heard about the crime, when she was told she said you have the right person, he is the one, meaning her son.

So that is INTERSTING, maybe he needed money and had to drop out of school and threatened to hurt people if mom and dad didnt cave in to demands.

It is the most troubling and bizarre comment for a mother to make to the media (of all people). Based on the quote reported by ABC News (which no audio has been released) it sounds like she knew her son was a ticking time bomb and did nothing about it.... I really hope this quote is debunked...

This definitely was planned out. I wouldn't be surprised if he had done a "dummy run".

I'm kind of thinking "gun control nuts" would be unlikely to be very handy with the kind of firepower this guy carried.

9News reports AMC will continue screenings, but NO MASKS, and NO COSTUMES.

AMC theaters say they are going to go on with the shows this weekend, but no one can wear masks or dress in costumes that make folks uncomfortable. I guess many were dressing for the movie in costume.

I think his trigger was not being able to find a job so he had to go back to school....then not being able to keep up and dropping out.....

All of his guns were bought in a short period of time.

Oh yeah, and he is evil.

here is the info on the "dry run" from the Denver ABC News affiliate:
http://www.thedenverchannel.com/news/31289126/detail.html

" The CALL7 Investigators have learned the gunman bought a ticket to the Batman movie, sat down for about 15 minutes, and then propped open the back door to the theater when it was dark. The gunman then went back to his car and parked it in the back of the theater, grabbed the guns and went in through the open back door."

I wish the entire movie industry well at this time. I think they are going to all be hit by this.

People just are not going to want to go to theatres for a while. This monster has not just shot 71 people but also the american movie industry. :twocents:

May have missed this, but haven't heard: was the theater employing ANY security yesterday? It was mentioned at the presser that off-duty officers occasionally were employed there but none were in place last night. I'm pretty sure that, if one took a calendar of future bookings, say, two months ago, and ranked the possibilities of incidents at any of those showings, a midnight premiere of a Batman film would've had to have scored at or near the top.
