Another description of Holmes:

Accused movie shooter called a mediocre student intern

But “he should not have gotten into the summer program,” Jacobson said. “His grades were mediocre. I’ve heard him described as brilliant. This is extremely inaccurate.”
.

Holmes worked briefly for him over eight weeks that Jacobson described as very frustrating, characterized by the young man’s unwillingness to follow Jacobson’s suggestions — contrary to the usually engaging experience Jacobson said he’s had working with high school students.
“My experience with him was quite bad,” Jacobson said.

OK guys I need help with something if there are no moderators around in the coming days. There is not always someone here.

I am hearing that a certain group, that will remain unnamed, is threatening to protest funerals for those killed in this massacre. They threatened the vigil today-but don't think they showed up.

We are not giving them ANY airtime here.If it happens or if it is threatened we are not giving them the attention they want. Don't post about it,please.

So, if it comes up-please alert members to remove their posts or contact a moderator if they can't or aren't around.

Please don't even reply to this post. Bump it whenever necessary and nicely tell fellow members it is verboten if they post.

THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH.

Can we add something to our siggies?

Like NO POSTING ABOUT PROTESTS?
or do you prefer nothing?

Nothing is best because that means we don't even acknowlege them. If we post your comment, then they know they have made a statement. (Nothing against you, but even mentioning it...)

That video is from six years ago. He managed to graduate college at the top of his class since then. Nothing suggests he was experiencing "losing it."

Yes, I realized later he was much younger in the video. I'm the one losing it. My mind is tired with grief.

Colo. massacre suspect heads to 1st court date; so far refuses to talk about attack

AURORA, Colo. — As the suspected gunman in the Colorado theater massacre heads to his first court appearance, authorities have disclosed that he is refusing to cooperate and that it could take months to learn what prompted the horrific attack on midnight moviegoers at a Batman film premiere.

James Holmes has been held in solitary confinement at an Arapahoe County detention facility but will be moved Monday to a next-door courtroom for a 9:30 a.m. MDT hearing, where the charges against him of suspicion of first degree murder will be read.

Everyone should read this article. It makes a lot more sense. This guy was just an average guy at the time Jacobson "employed" him, made Bs not brilliant level, and actually got fired for being stubborn. (Or perhaps not knowing how to do the job, I'm unclear on that, I just got up.)

That does not change the tragedy he caused, but it makes slightly more sense that he was just an average guy and probably frustrated and angry.

And he did not have a mentor. Apparently this guy is the one that was called mentor, he said no way, not true.

This is kinda random, but we went to the movies last night and saw Dark Knight and of course I was surveying the theatre. The EXIT door is only labeled as EXIT - not "emergency exit" like everybody keeps calling it. Not sure why we call it that. I do have to say I always thought it was for emergencies, but then years ago when I hooked up with my hubby, he showed me it was the quick way to get to the parking lot and I've been doing it ever since. I always thought it was forbidden, but it's not.

You could just press the phone against your body and there would be no light. The polite thing to do would be not look at your phone but it's the movies, some people act like jackasses. They don't care if you're bothered.

I was at the movies last night and had my phone in my pocket on vibrate (usually I keep it in my purse, but no more). Whenever I rec'd a call or text, my pocket lit up. :blushing:

This guy is/was a fellow student and contradicts what his professors have said about the suspect. He doesn't want the suspect calling him his mentor after this tragedy but one has to wonder if JH did turn out to be very successful what his opinion of the suspect would be then. I bet he would have been honoured that his name was mentioned. Of course, everyone wants to distance themselves from an accused mass murderer.

Not all Emergency Exits are labeled "Emergency". Exit signs are to let people know where to go in case of emergency. FWIW, exit doors are not to be used for non emergencies. IMO

If it doesn't say Emergency Exit, then it's an Exit - right? You use it to exit the building? Emergency Exits say to use in Emergencies only and alarm will sound.

While it's been some years since I've been to a movie theater, a lot of people always used the Exit to avoid walking back through the theater crowd here. Usually the Exit put you closer to the parking lot.

Exactly. And while many people (erroneously) consider it an Emergency Exit, it's not. It's not labeled that way and it doesn't sound. If it was an Emergency Exit, it would say that.

The gun club membership? I read that the owner got a hinky feeling about the shooter. I guess he didn't accept him into the club?

So where was the shooter shooting his guns? He had to go somewhere to test fire them.

He doesn't have to be a shooting champion to know how to work one......but he does have to have a small level of experience to feel comfortable shooting them. Especially considering the fact that he switched between 3 different guns.

People talk about the shooter being smart. Maybe he was one of those smart people that treats everybody else like they are dumb. I use to work with a kid like that. Really smart, but down talked everybody. He had no people skills and he was really awkward every time he would open his mouth. He got fired after about 2 weeks b/c he would basically call the mgrs dumb. I don't know why the mgrs were surprised b/c I remember him during the interview and during training. He was the same exact way then.

I was jus thinking that too (how did he practice shooting). Now, it's not exactly true (from what I've read) that the gun owner declined his application. I read that he told his staff to let him know when/if JH came to the shooting range so he could speak with him first.

If he didn't go to the range, maybe he went into the desert or something. It is CO, there is lots of open space.
