IMO The booking photo looks like someone that just got caught killing 12 people and shooting/injuring 58 more. Seems like people are trying to read something into a few photo's of a person. There is no way to know if someone is sane or not by a photo.

MOO

He is FLAT, wild eyed and unemotional, both hallmarks and telltale signs of one who is struggling with mental illness and or depression of some sort.
I don't generally think people who are depressed go on shooting sprees. Depressed people are too tired / unmotivated to plan something like this out, or they'd hurt themselves before they hurt others. IMO.

He's either suffering from some other mental issue, on drugs, or in shock of some sort. Judging from today, looks like the shock is wearing off.

I found the Holmes family attorney laughing so inappropriate and unprofessional. Maybe she was nervous but it still disgusted me.

Dilated pupils can be any number of things.

Excitement, anger, fear, arousal, drugs, alcohol, just too many things to guess. I'm certain the police did a full toxicology, we may not know about any drugs until trial. If it was LSD, which I'm not saying it is, I don't know if that shows up in blood tests. At least the gossip from the 70's was that it only shows up in a spinal tap. Hence the name of the group.

They are not hugely dilated, so I'm thinking emotion.

So much conflicting info. This guy graduated Phi Beta Kappa. Here is a statement from the Phi Beta Kappa community of condolence. And confirmation of James Holmes membership.

Some people do laugh when they are nervous.

I agree, 21merc7
Anyone who just experienced such a 'rush' or shock as he did may have dilated pupils

Is it just me? Or is there an underlying "smirk" in that booking pic?

Me too. It says they are still investigating it, so we don't know about a gf. As far as eviction, well he still is going to be in jail long after his lease is up. Best to clear it out, repair it, and try to re-rent. (As soon as forensics is finished that is.)

I feel sorry for whoever moves into that apartment.
Energy lingers long past his move out.
OK - you can clear and cleans energy but I doubt that it will be

Could large amounts of Vicodin make an individual appears flat a few hours after taking them?

Yes for sure it would also make his pubils bigger. But was he also on the vicodin at the gun store, maybe, we dont know.

OR he is high on Ecstacy or LSD or any number of other possible drugs.

Once his psyc history emerges we are gonna find involuatary commiment, long history of very heavy duty psycotropics, family members at times being scared of him, mom understanding her sons severity of illiness etc IMO

From what I understand the only prior run in with the law was a speeding ticket! If he were that crazy, being involuntarily committed, scaring family members etc...he would have run afoul of the law before this.

Other than to say they stand behind him. "He is their son"
Bull they hired there private attorney (while there son has court appointed) they petrified they could be charged "you knew, you are a nurse, the fact that your son was dangerous) that is why they have there own private attorney) and like I have done IMO, (bla) this person has been very mentally ill for years mom, nurse knows

To me it looks like a deer in headlights.

He doesn't look happy, that's for sure. Profilers who were predicting he would be gloating (as some mass killers do) will have to reconsider.

Depression effects every one differently.

Interesting Article on JLoughner

http://www.usatoday.com/yourlife/health/medical/mentalhealth/2011-01-17-parentspsych17_ST_N.htm

That lunatic smile.
The eyes that look "at you and through you at the same time."

The rage.

When Darlene Bobich first saw the now-infamous mug shot of Jared Loughner, she immediately recognized his expression. Although Bobich has never met Loughner, the man accused of shooting Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and 18 others, she has seen his wild-eyed look countless times — in the face of her own son.

"I know that smile," says Bobich, whose 23-year-old son, Peter, has been hospitalized seven times in five years for paranoid schizophrenia. "The dilated pupils — I call them shark eyes."

If we're comparing to Jared Loughner. He (Jared) looked much more like a deranged lunatic in his mugshot than JH does.
