Discussion about Skyline, the groundskeeper, trucks - Looking for Clues

IMO, if TH had parked on the access road and was leaving about the same time the GK reported that he was leaving (8:45 - 9:00 a.m.), they would have likely seen one another - even if for just a second or two - especially if TH had to back up all the way back down the access road to Skyline Blvd. as the GK loaded up his mower onto the trailer.

Since the GK has stated that he didn't see the Horman truck on the access road - I'm inclined to believe that the Horman truck was not parked on the access road.

MOO

That, and it just doesn't make any sense to me that someone in the commission of a crime would park a bright white truck in a spot that imo is very conspicuous from Skyline Boulevard during a time when parents, school buses, passersby, were traveling on Skyline Boulevard. That's the last place I'd park if I wanted to be inconspicuous.

That's where the GK is saying it couldn't have happened because he would have seen him go down to the access road while GK was mowing on the field. I'm not buying that though because he was busy mowing and not watching to see if kids were leaving, KWIM? That's why I agree with Lavender and wish we knew for sure that a teacher or aide was with the kids looking at the planter beds.

Yes, i am hearing exactly what you're saying, Kimster.. And I too have had these exact thoughts of which I posted a while back...

It's my uncle that I am talking about and let me tell you when he is "doing his job" just as this "turf tech' was doing his job that day, I know as far as my uncle is concerned it takes an act of God to even get his attention. First of all of course because of the obvious noise that they are right in the midst of, and secondly concentrating on getting the property done as accurately and quickly as possible, as time is money in this business. And then thirdly, I'd say most importantly because he is a male, who is in a zone, and unless some hottie with some big ol boobies, dressed to impress is anywhere near their peripheral vision you can forget about it!
My point is that I'd say it is quite likely that alot could have taken place in the vicinity of Dave Stensen that day and I doubt any of what was going would have even drawn his attention(Sadly it was the beginning of a nightmare for poor little Kyron that was taking place) but there is no way, no how this "turf tech" WOULDVE EVER KNOWN OR EVEN SUSPECTED SUCH

IMO there is no way this GK saw EVERY SINGLE OCCURRENCE THAT TOOK PLACE... SORRY, THERE'S JUST NO WAY[and that's no matter what his "correct or accurate" timeline may or may not be]..IMO

This credible witness is just as adamant that the truck was not parked in that area; no one has claimed that he saw every single occurrence that took place.

Yes,that is what I think someone saw his white truck.

I do not see how this could be possible for the GK truck to be mistaken for the Horman white truck...

The GK had a quite large trailer[for the entire amt of the Portland City employee's landscaping equip] hitched onto the white GK truck for one thing[and this is a documented fact]. This for sure would be more than enough to separate the two white trucks' appearances..

What is not known as fact but is a great possibility is that it being a Portland City vehicle it more than likely had an emblem of Portland City vehicle on it... But this particular info is NOT KNOWN FOR SURE...

So, I would totally place the important differing detail of the GK truck from the Horman's truck would be the large trailed attached to the GK work truck... That to me says more than enough that the two trucks would not be mistaken one for the other...

Wouldn't LE have known about GK's truck being there though? I mean, if they had figured out who all EMPLOYED BY THE SCHOOL, was there that day? That seems pretty elementary to me. :waitasec:

IMOO

The man who mows the field is NOT employed by Portland Public Schools. He is employed by the City of Portland. The soccer field apparently is not part of the school. It is owned by the city Parks and Recreation department.

ETA: I see that Jadejazzkayla already clarified this.

I think they were thrown off by the fact that he was employed by the school system, not by Skyline specifically. He rotated throughout the system's schools and happened to be at Skyline that morning.

He mows City of Portland properties, not Portland Public Schools properties. He does not work for the school district.

Good morning all. I don't really have time to research this more, so maybe if you locals who have visited the school don't know for sure, someone can see if:

Looking at this pic, it appears that the "garden" is toward the back half of the building. Is it possible that while the GK was noticing the group that went out to look at the garden, a very little Kyron could have actually scooted down the steps and out to the road? Also, are there two sets of steps leading down to the field? I think there's only one, but looking at the aerial shot it seems like there may be one at the end of the walkway. If there is, it's possible the GK would not have been able to view it. Sorry I have to run to work now.

There are THREE sets! One at the very front near the access road just off the playground. Kyron could have gone down those stairs and not been seen, especially if the turf tech had his truck parked right in front of those steps.

Here is a link to the steps next to the playground:

Also, Sorrell earlier in the thread was asking about how long the grass could have been in June. It was LONG!

Where the track meets the access road.

The access road is in clear view of the church. IIRC the church was one of the first places LE searched. I'd like to know if the church lady remembers who was parked there that day.

I'm not sure if there are people there all the time or if they are only there during an event? It is not an operating church, per se.

Brooks Hill is an historic community center and wedding chapel located on NW Skyline near Cornelius Pass. As a former church, this cozy chapel served the Skyline neighborhood for over 70 years. Brooks Hill is available for neighborhood meetings, community events, weddings and the performing arts. Perfect as a wedding ceremony site for small weddings, the chapel is only 20 miles from downtown Portland. " http://www.brookshill.com/default.cfm

I just wanted to say thank you again, in case I missed thanking anyone, for all the info and pictures provided in the last few days. It has really clarified some things in my mind, and has been very helpful. Thank you for taking the time to dig for the info and pics and post them, and answer all the questions!

Given that Portland is big on being "green," I wonder if the gardens were part of the science fair - perhaps someone's project? I also wonder if the electric project could have been some time of alternative energy source, like a windmill or solar panels? They would all have to be outside, right? I think it is very possible that Kyron willingly went outside to see one or both if my supposition is correct.

I don't know how to think of this guy mowing the lawn that morning. Was he an asset or a liability to Terri's plan? Was the lawn mower guy expected to be at the school that day? Would Terri have known he was going to be there? TIA

And if so, would she know his exact time of arrival, exact place he would park, exact time it would take to cut the lawn, exact time he would leave, length of time to load up equipment, how many times he would lift his head and look around, and exactly what he could see when at a particular place on the lawn. Do you think she saw him there before and timed him? moo

I suppose all that is possible since Terri did volunteer work at the school. Just curious how everyone thinks this guy fits in. TIA moo mho hoo

Do we know if anyone was at the church that day?

Do we know if anyone was at the church that day?
"After I got home from work last Friday, there was a knock on the door. My first thought was "pizza night!" But it wasn't a neighbor. It was two police officers and the principal from across the street.

"We are missing a little guy," they said. Have you seen anything?"

We searched the building. Nothing. Later that night, the news vans started to arrive.

My neighbors are devastated. This area is very much like a small town, even as close as it is to Portland. There is something about living here that melts the indifference toward others. We read the comments in the media that point fingers at some imagined lack of attention to safety, and we are stunned.

We don't live in fear. We know our neighbors. We know the school, and we look out for each other. I've only lived here for a few years, but when my dog got sick, neighbors showed up every single day at 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. to help me move him. When my mother died, flowers and food appeared on my counters from people I've never met." — Cindy Lou Banks
