Discussion about Skyline, the groundskeeper, trucks - Looking for Clues

Why do you all think LE showed the truck in two different spots? I don't know what to make of that.

Two different witnesses said they saw it in two different spots is the easy explanation, but I don't know.

ETA: LE/DA flier from Aug 11 for reference:
http://www.mcso.us/public/newsroom/081110_PressConferenceFlier.pdf

I think that was because they didn't interview the GK earlier. In fact, it seemed like LE didn't even know he'd been there until he came forward himself weeks later.

I suspect that the reports of a second white truck probably were about his truck. But LE didn't know that then.

Ooops. I just realized that you're talking about the Horman truck, right? Maybe to see if someone would say "oh yea, I saw that truck on the access road". But as it turned out later, even if someone did, it would be hard to prove that they saw the Horman truck vs. the GK's truck, I suspect. That timeline for the GK is very tight, and on a busy day I wouldn't count on an eyewitness weeks later being able to remember and detail the differences between white truck that was supposed to be there and was (GK) and white truck that wasn't (Horman).

I've been left to wonder if the "white truck" chase didn't kind of blow up in their faces like the LS "sting." Weird stuff, and so far, didn't help find Kyron.

Here's the thing - until the GK arrived, the chain (blocking access to the soccer field and the track) was still in place & locked.

If someone had pulled all the way up to the chain (especially in a Ford F250 pick-up with an extended cab), turning around to exit would have been extremely difficult IMO, if not altogether impossible.

I doubt anyone would know right off hand how many white trucks similar to KH's were owned by people at the school, but does anyone one where statistical information or a rough estimate could be found?

Not sure where to post this..my wondefull husband drives a 4wd drive F250...I am 5 foot tall...he 6ft..plus ....whenver I go in his truck, which I hate to do..I park as far away from anything as I can, because, quite ..frankly it's the easiet place to park...to me I would like to know if it a a 2WD or a 4WD that Kaine had. or still does......makes a HUGH difference to me...cause I am very short, and best I can gather so is TH...i.

She's 5'6 or 7 ... Kaine was asked about that in an oregonian interview, and on the adoption page she lists her height as 5'6", IIRC.

It looks to me as though he came forward when they released the two trucks photos.

Would it be noticeably out of the ordinary though? Maybe TH wanted it to seem as if she were the GK? (don't even know if this is a possibility-but is it something we can say-no way to?)

It looks to me as though he came forward when they released the two trucks photos.

If he was a parent, relative or friend of a Skyline student, or someone who just happened to be in the vicinity that morning, then I'd give LE a pass on not interviewing him in depth until so late in the investigation. But the fact that he works for the City of Portland and that there would have been record of him being on that property to mow ... there is NO excuse for the police not to have known of him and interviewed him in depth within the first few days of Kyron's disappearance.

Makes me wonder how many other contractors, vendors, delivery persons, and support staff were present that morning that LE has no clue about.

Sorry, that I said that he was employed by the school. That was my misinformation and I am deeply sorry for that.

Having said that however;

Knowing that he was employed by the city, would make it even more frustrating if LE-ALSO employed by the CITY, didn't know that he was there. IF in fact they didn't know.

goatman - i did point out a mis-statement - just to clarify the facts. not to you personally.

i totally agree with you. i hope that lawn guy was talked to very early on by le.

Since there are two chains which must be unlocked in order to get up to the soccer field, it is possible or even likely that the GK locked them behind him when he arrived at 7:30. If that's so, no one could have parked there on the access road before he left at 8:45-9:00. In fact, if he did lock them behind him, he would have had to have parked the truck 4 times in each direction!

O/T:

Wasn't offended! Just wanted to take responsibility for unwittingly perpetrating a lie. Just making sure everyone knew who started the chain:loser:

Would you find it more likely then that he wouldn't have locked them at all?

I'm thinking the GK probably didn't lock the chain(s) behind him after he pulled in, but who knows? It wasn't mentioned in any article that I read.

Having grown up in Texas cattle country - we locked the gates behind us to keep the cattle from wandering off. I don't think there were any cattle (or livestock) on the soccer field that had to be contained - just kids - lol.

He may have been required to lock it up as a safety measure. On this day in particular, I'd think they would have wanted to keep cars from driving up on that path.

Yeah that is what I am thinking.

IF the gate is locked, would a driver *TH* been able to use it/park back there?

Not sure; did someone post there were two chains?

Wouldn't seem feasible for someone trying to make a quick getaway.

Yes

But is that a chain on each end or side beside? II or I----------I?

The GK states that he was mowing the soccer field from 7:45 - to 8:30. In his *amended* timeline, he states that he left the campus about 8:45 - 9:00 (right around the time that TH says that she left to go to the first FM store).

The GK states that he didn't see the Horman truck on the access road.

The GK has been called a credible witness by LE.

IMO, if TH had parked on the access road and was leaving about the same time the GK reported that he was leaving (8:45 - 9:00 a.m.), they would have likely seen one another - even if for just a second or two - especially if TH had to back up all the way back down the access road to Skyline Blvd. as the GK loaded up his mower onto the trailer.

Since the GK has stated that he didn't see the Horman truck on the access road - I'm inclined to believe that the Horman truck was not parked on the access road.
