Surely airport security footage can reveal who was in possession of this yellow bag/suitcase. . . . who brought it to the airport? Who was it with in security?

It's possible that a trafficker tried to make it look like it was David's bag and misspelled his name on the tag.

This doesnt sound good. Who would be picking up 'this bag' in Toronto? Would need to be a passenger or its an inside job at the customs/luggage pickup personnel. IMO

The story is a bit confusing so far. The bag in question had a tag listing the Punta Cana airport as the destination. So it apparently had not been checked to go to Toronto. Where did the bag come from? How did the officials get ahold of the bag and where? What else was in the bag? There are just a lot of missing facts right now.

Not good PR going on for the Dominican Republic is there? Surely, this should be easy to sort with cctv of them checking their bags. If they didn’t check the one filled with drugs, well, then should be obvious.

The yellow bag was found going in to the DR of you watch the video from this link carefully.

Both men checked their duffle bags in at the airport in Canada for their trip to the DR. But DR police have asserted that "he'd also brought another bright yellow bag tagged with a name similar to his that mysteriously hadn't been claimed n the trip down".

So, IMO, an airport worker at Toronto Pearson, most likely a baggage handler, scribbled off his name (getting the spelling wrong) onto a tag and tossed a drug shipment within a bright yellow bag onto the plane.

Why no one picked it up at the other end ... remains to be seen. Bag being watched so they weren't comfortable? Didn't get the message they had a delivery on board? Didn't get the chance to pick it up before it was opened by staff/security in the DR?

Dave didn't pick it up when he arrived in Dominican because it wasn't his and he didn't check it. IMO.

Pearson International should certainly have footage of these guys checking in without "the yellow bag" when they left Canada as proof.

So are you thinking that the duffle bag was sent to DR from Toronto empty and then filled with drugs for return to Toronto? Never thought of that. I do agree it could be airport workers involved.

Nope; the video lays out that the yellow bag of drugs was found on the incoming route from T-Dot to the DR and went 'unclaimed' there.

Someone at Pearson loaded up a shipment southwards and for whatever reason, the gaining party in the DR failed to grab the bag when it arrived loaded up for them.

IMO.

So it sounds like drugs were shipped TO the DR from T-Dot and not claimed? Wow, never would have thought it that way around. By time 'drugs' get to Canada they have been 'stepped' on so many times its not worth buying here. Just what I've heard. hahaha Unless its pot I suppose... Or do I still not follow??

Snipped...
...Wilcox said her family has been informed that the RCMP has made an arrest in Canada in connection to Bennett’s case. A spokesperson for the Mounties said in an email that the force can’t confirm or deny that an arrest has been made, but it is “actively investigating” the case.

I am interested in the comment that the RCMP has made an arrest in Canada about the matter. I wonder if the DR authorities want to know more about that and be assured it is being fully pursued before they release Mr. Bennett. Just a thought.

so... was this resolved? Will we ever hear anything more about where this bag came from?

It would be nice to know more. But didn't we hear somewhere about an arrest in Toronto?
