I found this tide chart and saw that the low tide for today was around midnight and high tide was at 9:16 am. I don't know much about tides and how much of a difference in tides woukd be needed to wash away a person. Could SK have passed out/fallen asleep at the edge of the beach and have been washed out to sea before she could have woken up? As unlikely as this seems for a possible scenario, I'm just throwing this out there. Get Punta Cana tide times

Thinking out loud. It seems that people are rarely without their phones. For me, even if my phone is out of battery, I still carry it around in case I find a charging spot or need to make an emergency call with whatever little power is left. Secondly, when the boy regained consciousness/woke up, it’s puzzling that he didn’t notice her clothes were still there. Did he think she walked back to her hotel room with no clothes on? Why didn’t he check on her or with her friends to ensure she was alright? That aspect feels a bit hinky.
I agree.

The friends reported her missing and not the 'non-suspect' she was last seen with???

Where was her clothing found? Did they wash up? Were they found near last location w/ 'non-suspect'? Or elsewhere???

I don't see how the friends reported her missing and the guy gets up at 5-6am and just continues his day???

I have just caught up reading this thread.

I really do just think this is a tragic accident - after watching the video I do believe the guys story - he looked very drunk and likely did just pass out on the beach. This explains the no call to the police or asking for help as by the time he woke up he just presumed she had gone.

My thoughts go out to her family and I hope they find her soon.

I also send my thoughts to the boy in question (I hope I don’t end up eating my words here but I believe him) he will likely never be able to forgive himself for what happened.
Congrats for your constructive comments, Molly.

But I do wonder why the report on CNN stated that the male acquaintance she met at the beach changed his version of events multiple times.

The mystery hunk seen with his arm draped around missing spring breaker Sudiksha Konanki on the morning she vanished has been named by police sources as American Joshua Steven Riibe.

A source close to the investigation told DailyMail.com that Riibe, 24, a powerfully-built former high school wrestler, was ‘being cooperative’. He is still in Punta Cana but is not currently considered a suspect.

Loudoun County, Virginia Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Thomas Julia told Fox News Digital that 24-year-old Joshua Riibe is a “person of interest” in the college student’s disappearance during the University of Pittsburgh student’s spring break.

Julia said that Riibe “has been interviewed at length,” but noted its’ “still a missing person case, not a criminal case.” Riibe has not been accused of any crime in the case.

Starting at 4:38, it appears they are holding hands but (if you look really close) the guy is covertly passing her a cell phone that she covertly tries to stick in her pocketbook. The phone is visible sticking out of the pocketbook until they enter the hotel.

4:38-4:52

I still wonder if everyone involved even knew each other's full names at the time, or had contact info/room numbers to alert companions at all. The Spring Break culture unfortunately is not very conducive for good choices and clear thinking.
I thought about this too, but couldn't the man she was with go to the front desk? "Hi, I was out on the beach last night/this morning with a girl who's here from the US with a group of friends. Silly me I was drunk and passed out, I assume she got back to the hotel safely, but would you be able to double check? I don't have her number." ETC.

I've seen LE say this before when they want the suspect to feel more at ease, so they slip up

Also wanted to add that the investigation has now said there were other people out and about on the beach due to the power outage in the hotel (very hot, etc.)

Something to consider, but I feel like there is enough to consider just from the guy she was with.

As an aside, I find the cell phone thing to also be very strange. Unless she was afraid she would lose her phone in the water (she planned on swimming) and told her friends to take it back to the room? Perhaps she thought it would be more romantic to be out of the beach with this guy without it? Or he convinced her of that?

Yes, though there wasn't much to his shirt to begin with: a t-shirt with the sides totally ripped out, to basically just be held up by the neckband. That's what I saw in the video taken earlier as the group was headed to the beach.
The point is he came back to the hotel without it and the white sneakers. I wonder if those items were on the lounge chair with Sudiksha's stuff?

What if she had to share her location with her parents out of concern for her safety, maybe she didn't want them to know she was on the beach at 4 AM without her friends? So when they went back, so did her phone - just a thought.

Yep... another American college student.
Im not surprised at all. Locals arent on the beach trying to kidnap American tourists at 5am.
there may be crime but my experience in the DR was immense respect for Americans and personally i never felt in danger as a young female alone there.
He has been reported as being 24, so likely a tourist, not a student.

So is that HIM in the dressy button up white shirt with print also?!?!?! Does that mean some of those clips from earlier in the evening between disco and beach??? Or why the change of shirts??? And then no shirt at all I understand is in the morning I guess after he "woke up on the beach"... But I need some help - cuz the guy in the dress shirt holding the hand of the girl in white (& they are walking alone 4:38 - 4:52), does not look like same guy as the one in the barely there muscle shirt and again with no shirt....but my eyes are bad and the video kinda sux imho. TIA. Where is Sudiksha??!?!?!?! (sadly this case seems to me a clearcut occam's razor but heck the world has gone mad so anything is still possible moo) Even in the dark, with people on the beach --- someone should have heard screaming for help & even come forward by now, but maybe the undertow was so strong she didn't have a chance....................just miffed.

Where is she?!??
