Starting with a large, athletic male, then adding a guess based on a vague and fuzzy benchmark of say:

- Clearly no stranger to alcohol, but not a routine binge drinker either....

I would guess: 5-6 resort drinks (important idea) to get pleasantly buzzed. 8-10 to get moderately intoxicated. 12-15 to get staggering drunk, black out approaching. But.... factor in that he would also be metabolizing one drink an hour. So, the number of drinks goes up.

I am thinking that the resort drinks are relatively watered. Likewise, young males in good physical condition can develop a pretty good tolerance with out the need for years of prior "experience".

And.... I suspect the resort waiters and waitresses might not come around all that fast to dispense yet another round of free drinks. So there could be another time factor in addition to metabolization.

Welcoming any other opinions.....
OK, here's another opinion. That seems like an awful lot of drinks! Although a large, athletic male could tolerate more than a smaller female, easily. I'd say 5-7 drinks for the young male, depending on the strength of the drink. For the female, it could be as few as 4. Depends also on how much food is in the stomach and how quickly the drinks are consumed.

There is very little doubt in me that they were likely pounding shots with the way he was walking. I doubt it was 15 drinks. And I don’t really think (not this comment) that because she was premed we can rule out her drinking. There are parts in the video that make it difficult to determine if it was her being unsteady or him as they were leaning on each other.

They were at a resort on spring break and unless you’ve been to one you really don’t understand how messed up people can get and go into the water.

I still don’t understand why his name was released. It was a series of bad choices including by the victim and imo that’s just discussing a very likely theory. Sometimes that’s the answer. And sometimes naming someone without any info really messes up their life and I just don’t see there was a reason yet for that here. They are talking to him and gathering information. The public did not need to know his name. There is 0 help or important knowledge gathered here from anyone knowing his name. Now both we and the media have free rein to make up stuff to avoid discussing that this was bad decisions all around? I’m not comfortable with that.

Sudiksha - I hope you are found so your family can rest in peace

Agree. If he's not a subject, it seems a bit wrong to plaster his information everywhere. Without a body, we cannot be certain she is deceased. It does feel a bit strange to leap to human trafficking, but I can also understand wanting hope she is alive. It is an all around "bad combination"--likely being intoxicated, middle of the night swimming, seemingly being alone with someone you do not know well, etc. Still, I can see how a young guy goes back to his room to sleep and could think she did the same. In a perfect world, yes he would have thought to make sure she was safe, but they had just met. It isn't really out there thinking they would catch up later. Could be lies too, absolutely. As the parent of young adult/college offspring, the crashing after a night out doesn't seem suspicious to me.

Apparently Josh had “lawyered up” already before more questioning.
This is the first I’m seeing about him saying that he rescued her and that they had been kissing in the ocean.
I’m really curious about what he said to his roommate when he got back to his room around 10:00 am- what he said happened to Sudiksha.
The eight questions that he refused to answer in above article are telling and perplexing.
All imho

So he's a hero?

Quite a daunting tale of rescue.

I have questions.

So his story has changed for the 4th time? Now he’s a hero who saved SK from the waves. So where is she?
Something stinks! JMO

15 to get as intoxicated as he says he was? Do we really think he would have had that many?
ABSOLUTELY and likely double that. I’m guessing that’s closer to what she had during the course of the day and he had double or triple that.
For those unfamiliar with current US college drinking culture it’s disturbing to say the least.
In my generation we drank in college to get a “buzz”
This generation drinks to get “black out” - and that is both sexes.
It’s extremely common and leads to dangerous situations regularly.
Why do you think 20-25% of our US college girls have been legitimately “date raped?”
It’s horrifying and disturbing and extremely common.
First of all, the idea of going on spring break where all alcohol beverages around the clock for 24 hours are included is disturbing to start with.
The big draw of these giant all inclusives is unlimited booze.
Nobody goes there for their fine cuisine.
Punta Cana is a known hotspot for getting “blackout” as in BLACKOUT DRUNK on Spring Break.
Copious numbers of US college students in both public and private universities go to these resorts en masse.
I even know high school parents who have accompanied private school high school seniors to these resorts in Punta Cana, Mexico and the Bahamas. All types of horrific antics ensue. Example- high school girl being found naked passed out in the stairwell at a resort and no telling where or how often she had been passed around before ending up there.

I’m not saying Sudishka and her friends were trying to get “blackout drunk” but it is chillingly a cultural norm among a large college population.
I do think that Sudishka and her friends chose this particular all inclusive in order to “party/ drink” which is considered very normal.

There were two Venmo payments Sudishka made on the same day she went missing - for a nightclub and boat ride that were both undoubtedly ALL YOU CAN DRINK as well.
I think she went to the club with her friends that day and I think the boat ride was the excursion her friends took and she missed that next morning.

All IMHO

It depends on way too many things, including how watered-down the drinks are at an all-inclusive resort.

For the first time in this case I have suspicions of him.

I’m guessing the police have from early on which is why is name and face has been plastered all over the media.

Eeek.

I'm having trouble finding the articles because most sites have updated the story, but this is from Joshua Riibe under round-the-clock police surveillance in Punta Cana -

According to the above article, JR is still being held there under round the clock police susurveillance
It sounds like for the time being that Riibe is being confined to his hotel room.

And it's possible that for now he may not be able to go anywhere outside of his hotel room or the hotel building without a police escort.

Moo… in my mind, if he saved her from drowning, he would surely have followed through to make sure she was ok, not just watch her walk away. My hinkey meter is off😵‍💫

I am wondering if a variation of this is what actually happened. Something happened on the beach (he made advances, she spurned him, he got enraged and maybe applied too much force and she passed out or worse). Now he is in a panic. He carries her, swims into the open sea some distance, dumps her there and comes back, swallowing a lot of sea water as he says. This causes him to throw up on the shore and he is exhausted and passes out for 4 hrs. So, yes, in this version, he is carrying her and swimming in the ocean but not to rescue her, but actually dump her in the ocean. The rest of his story is true - swallowed salt water, threw up, passed out on the shore for 3 hrs etc. JMO.

for some reason I keep envisioning a struggle..sometimes drunk people will fight you when you are trying to help them. this story becomes more and more foggy with each new detail. maybe he thought he pulled her out but she was still laying on the shoreline and the tide took her back out...if he was vomiting he may not have been aware. but still this feeling of struggle bothers me..were their any marks on his body? (catching up) mOO

How long is he going to be confined and not able to leave the country? A question we don't have the answer to is where is his tank and shoes?

If she drowned I sincerely hope that something will show up to give her family some closure. A scenario that I've considered is she passed out on the beach and a stranger grabbed her. Do we know if the areas around the resort are gated and patrolled? Many of the islands that I have visited have fencing around them and the locals aren't permitted to enter unless they are staff. The locals hang out around the fences trying to sell their wares to the tourist. It can be very annoying.
