After so many years, I wonder how many potential jurors with prior case knowledge, remember as much as those of us who have followed this case from day one?

I have to admit my memory isn’t as fresh as it was several years ago. However, if an instance is brought up, I bet I can fill in the pieces or immediately recognize an incorrect description.

The lawyers may try so hard to get people who have such little knowledge of this case, that the people aren’t the brightest to be sitting on a murder trial. Let’s hope this is not the case or a repeat of CA or OJ’s trials!
I thought that as well BUT they have hard core evidence in this case. Mark and his stupid minions have just been playing the legal game.

BINGO!!!! DebGarcia and I are cashing in our chips on that bet! :))D:D:D) I think the DNA evidence defense just received from FBI kind of sealed his fate. Jurors would cut him zero slack if they were presented with DNA evidence implicating JRR and proving his presence in Teresa's home.
(editing because my fingers are not typing out the words I am thinking.)
SCALEX....jumping ahead...so JRR does not think LWOP was a deal?? Guess he wants the same vacation package CWW got...... too late JRR.
I knew it!

Jimmy Rodgers turned down the plea deal. Waiting for more updates.
First he left his phone on when he was in the house and now this....stupid stupid stupid JRR!

I just want to slap Mark. He was laughing with his lawyer. He is so smug and he pisses me off!

Question: Is it typical for several different plea bargains to be offered before a defendant accepts one? Is it sort of like a negotiating process, or is it usually a one time take it or leave it deal?

I am wondering about Rodgers ' rejection of the plea offer.

I just think JR is dumb for not taking the plea. He knows he will be convicted regardless. Perhaps with his small brain he thinks he can beat the charges. This is from the guy who keeps his phone on when he commits a murder

I'm semi local (Sarasota) and its either going to be retired, unemployed, or someone with a very lenient employer. If it was a month later, it would be snowbirds in the mix.... Most people cannot afford to miss 5 weeks of work.

I'm not sure if this is up-to-date...

this shows that in the state of Florida that jury pools are pulled from driver's licenses. Other state use drivers license and or voting registrations m o o.

I wonder if most snowbirds have driver's license from their Northern homes, or in Florida? That's an interesting point that those who do get pulled may not even be in town, and have already notified the courts of such so they don't have to go to Florida to tell them they are up north at this time of year!

How Do I Find Out More About Jury Duty? - Florida Court Clerks & Comptrollers

How am I selected to receive a jury summons?
Florida law requires that names of persons living in the county be selected at random for jury service from the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DHSMV) records of people having a driver's license or identification card.

Yes, I saw MS laughing away and his attorney started to smile but thought better of it. Still, it was caught on tape.

MS lost weight. I wonder if he still looks like his ‘twin’. Guess we will find out soon.

JRR should have taken the plea.....at Least he did not laugh and his lawyer looked professional and serious. Too bad she could not talk him into a plea. Oh well.

Shock #1 MS with the weight loss, shaved facial hair, dumped the glasses, more fit and wearing a suit.....talk about a metamorphic shift. He looks like he is MM's twin now!
Shock#2 JRR's reply to the judge, "There's been one offer and I reject that offer, sir." I never expected the clarity, deep and articulate voice from JRR.
**I found him to be less sympathetic. Only "one offer"....ahem, ahem...
IMO..... How many were you expecting in a 1st degree murder case?
anybody recall when JRR said he could, "do 10 to 15 years" with no problem...or something similar? JRR came across as a little arrogant to me/IMO. And, I don't want the prosecution to diminish the seriousness of the situation by playing Let's Make A Deal-that-the-young-killer-likes. What kind of message does that send to others facing serious charges. "Oh just keep rejecting all the offers until the prosecution relents and gives you a sweetheart deal??" I just don't see this prosecutor doing anything like that.

Yes multiple offers, in lee county at least, is the norm. For example at first they may offer an offense 5 years, if turned down then at the next hearing they might offer 5 years probation, then they might settle on 3 years of probation in the end. The criminals in the area know not to accept the first offer.

Now this is a death penalty case so the stakes are much higher, but in other DP cases in the area, many of the defendants had been offered cooperation deals in the past, to avoid trial. It’s very late in the game to be offering a plea, so IMHO I don’t believe the state had any intention of making a deal. If they had, they would have already. The deal they did offer yesterday, which we don’t know what it was, was probably no better than taking his chances at court.

Jimmy Rodgers Jury:
A new group of 52 potential jurors are being questioned this morning. The judge said the goal is to have 60 left from the groups yesterday and today, after asking about financial hardship and case knowledge. Then I believe the remaining people will move on around 1:30pm today to the hard questions (their opinions on death penalty, law enforcement, etc)
