The sheriff's office gathered as much evidence and documented the crime scene as much as possible early on in the investigation, Hunter said.

"Their investigation into Mr. Wright led to Mr. Rodgers," Hunter said.


Detectives went to Rodgers' home a few weeks after Teresa's death. Rodgers denied going to Florida and knowing Mark Sievers. "Those statements were proven to be untrue," Hunter said.


Rodgers and Mark Sievers met in May 2015 at Curtis Wright's wedding. Rodgers was there with his then-girlfriend. Sievers was the best friend in Wright's wedding. "The notion that he didn't know Mark Sievers was untrue."


"He said he hadn't been to Florida," Hunter said. The LCSO would later prove that to be untrue via electionic footprints.

It was said by the judge that they are not able to refer to him as the Hammer at all. I believe if witnesses use the nickname on their own accord then that is allowed. But prosecution is not allowed.

Rodgers took his cellphone and he soaked it in water then he broke it into pieces after a visit from investigators, Hunter said.

At the time Rodgers was working with the disposal of lead around the time of Teresa Sievers' killing. Rodgers was trained in how to avoid lead contamination. This is the same training on how to avoid contamination at a crime scene, Hunter said.
