Dylan Redwine Case Discussion Thread/Dylan's Remains Found, #2

My daughter finds this practice creepy. She says she understands how people seem to think this memorializes a murdered child, but she thinks it memorializes them incorrectly. Why do people always pick the place the person died. Why not pick a place they lived, a place where people have GOOD memories of the deceased. I can't say I disagree with her.

I also don't like it because only certain victims are honored in this way. Only white, mostly middle class, children are getting parks, streets, bridges and mountains named after them. A victim's case needs to be appealing to the media for anything to be named after the victim.

No, not at all (on the BBM), if he is innocent, but yes, common sense on the second part...instead of like I said of focusing on the clinical details as he did or is doing, why is he not "focused" on the murder? It doesn't make sense to me or my hubby.

I'm still not sure what you mean. Has Mark done an interview since Dylan's remains were discovered? If he did I should watch or listen to it. Is there a link available to this?

Yes and yes. He did Tricia's radio show the same day Dylan was found.

OK, I'll wait for you to catch up. I am really curious since you thought enough about it to post before you had read everything.

My post was in regards to why didn't Mark threaten a kidnapper before Dylan was found. I still would like to hear Marks interview if there is one.

I would hate to see the forum shut down again --- just a suggestion but maybe we can shrug, scroll and roll..

Right.

I was looking for opinions on which one? I can't decide.. So I was looking for reasons others feel one way or the other.

My original thoughts when MR said about the shoelaces was that it seemed illogical, but since MR was stating LE told him this that they were telling him weird little falsehoods to watch and listen to his reaction. His reaction was to tell the media? Why?
On the other hand if MR just decided to make up such an odd claim, LE would see and hear that.
I lean towards the first scenario, with further questions.

You (and your daughter) just put this into words perfectly! I have always felt this way but I've never been able to articulate it. Thanks. :)

Ah, I see. I must have read the series of posts wrong. I will still be interested in your take, though.

O/T She's a funny one. She's the one who wonders if you could see ghosts on a hanging tree, would you see all of them at once meshed together, or would they all be in slightly different places so as not to be on top of each other. I can't imagine why she entertains such thoughts....:innocent:

My take on why it's not a good idea to threaten a kidnapper is that it may provoke this potentially unstable person in harming the kidnapping victim. MOO.

That's hilarious

This may very well be one of the reasons why parents of kidnapped children beg and plea with the kidnapper, that they will do anything, just please release the child.
Mark didnt do that either that I have seen or heard.

I was only commenting on the threatening comment. I don't recall anyone begging for a kidnapper to release Dylan. MOO.

Now that Dylan's remains are found, why is isn't MR focusing on justice??? No quote, but didn't he say something to the effect he was going to try & contact his Mom to get a proper burial?

I've always wondered if it because it has to be appealing or because white, mostly middle class people seem to push to have things like that done. I know of one white, middle class father who did such a thing without any media attention whatsoever. He did it because it was something he needed to do. Just another perspective.

Yes he seems to never forget to mention Elaine, somehow.
