Dylan Redwine Case Discussion Thread/Dylan's Remains Found

LE must be holding something big back because from all that was found i don't see how they could come to the conclusion that it was a criminal investigation from just 3 lots of bones.

:moo: :cow:

Here's the thing...if they only found 4 or 5 bones how did they confirm it was Dylan so quickly? Most of the cases I've seen it takes them more than a day or two to come out and say it was indeed that person. This leads me to believe there was more found than they are letting on. JMO

Did we ever determine if Middle Mountain Road was the road Mark was searching with B when he made the comment about it being stupid to search there? It sounds to me like it could be..
snipped

I don't think so. MR's description said (paraphrased) the road they were on had to be reached by going back to Bayfield and then up the other side of the mountain. Middle Mountain Road access is much closer, on the north end of the lake, so I don't see describing it as "going back to" anywhere to get to it. IMO.

Last night someone posted that Dylans last text was to his friend and said I will see you in the morning and it was 9:37 pm. IDK if that was verified or not. There is an onslaught of info and articles in the last 24 hrs so if that was a rumor or fb thing I'm sorry.

That's how the Durango Herald is now presenting the timeline: http://durangoherald.com/article/20130627/NEWS01/130629581/Dylan-Redwine-s-remains-found-

9:37 p.m. – Dylan sent his last text message to a friend, saying he planned to meet up with him early the next morning.
To my knowledge, the text has not been presented this way in MSM previously so where is this coming from?

The location of the bones would lead LE to believe that this is a crime.

Investigators say the place where Dylan's remains were found was not a place he would have gone on his own.
"Dylan had a very set routine. He was a very communicative fellow on the Internet and Twitter with his friends. And he had very specific definite plans with his friends and he never showed up for that...it's totally unlike Dylan."

For those of you that want a refresher on the Dr. Phil show, concerning Dylan? Below is part one and two. This is to refresh memories ONLY. Let's post responsibility, to avoid getting this thread closed. I'm not posting it to discuss, but I, Myself, need to refer to these.:seeya:

When the heck did this happen?? I just happen to log on and see it. Like everyone else, I felt that he has been dead for a long time, but to see it in print and know the finality of it, it is still shocking. Poor Elaine and family. Mark, eh.....just haven't changed my opinion about him. Something is off with him. Poor Dylan. Light the way to the one who did this.

According to Mark Redwine, it wasn't uncommon for Dylan to venture into the woods where his body was found.

Really, Mark? It "wasn't uncommon" for Dylan to hang out here?

Oh, never mind. I seen where it said it was ok to discuss MR, but not to bash MR or be rude to each other. Sorry.

It was released to the public yesterday but they have been searching and finding Dylan's personal things all week. You can catch up by using the links that are posted in this thread. :)

I live in Kentucky. The terrain is similar. This is NOT EVEN safe for adults!

Has this been posted yet ?

Investigators also found a piece of the boy's shirt, one sock and his shoestrings but not the backpack or other items he had when he went missing, Redwine said.

Also , for the people on here that have been part of other threads on missing children , is it normal for a grieving parent a few hours after they hear of the death of there child to go into such grim details ?

"Ninety-eight percent of Dylan is scattered about the countryside," said Redwine, his voice trembling in an interview Thursday night".

It just seems very morbid because Dylan was so young and his poor friends who are his age i am sure dont need to know such details :moo:

From the many cases I've followed on Websleuths, it is my worthless opinion that most parents of abducted children WHO AREN'T GUILTY grieve privately immediately after their child's body is discovered. Some eventually come forward and speak to the press at a later date.

If Dylan ventured into the woods where he was found and its 10 miles then that would take him all day to venture there AND back, so I 'm wondering , according to MR, how often Dylan did this ? Did he go alone or take some friends? Would any of his friends confirm that they'd gone up there with him?

ETA If it's not uncommon for Dylan to go to that area, then why would that area be a 'stupid' place to search? Where your child
hangs out frequently or even occasionally is a pretty SMART place to search, right?

I'm also struck by the word " SCATTERED" as in MR says 98% of him is scattered across the countryside.

ETA again, In fact I'm not even sure that a small kid could walk 20 miles uphill and in rugged terrain. Does anyone know ?

I just logged on and found out the same thing. I'm still shocked although I felt that Dylan was dead. I'm not shocked that he was only ten miles from his dad's home.

Pensfan, thank you for bringing over the LE quote about how Dylan was always on the internet, and him just taking off like that was not him. Assuming LE researched his internet and texting habits, it's good to have a quote from them to back up what his family has said about him.

I honestly believe something happened Sunday evening when the communicating stopped. It is clear to me that if Dylan had woken up in the morning, he would have been texting R immediately.

I had asked this question yesterday and Trisha answered. She said that it is in the area that MR said was a stupid place to search.

Here is Tricia's post regarding Middle Mountain Rd being a stupid place to search -

Yes I believe it is packerdog. However, it is my understanding that the Sheriff's spokesperson has stated that both parents are cooperating and there are no suspects at this time. I'll try and find a link for you to confirm this.

Where is the skull? IMO There's a reason skulls are generally found mostly intact and it's because they are not easily broken up. Even archaic discoveries generally include the skull, even a hundred thousand years later. An animal may fracture a bone to get at the marrow inside and in doing that digest some of it, but that seems less likely with a skull. The search team included archeologist and anthropologist who would know this also - would they have stopped searching "we found all we're going to find" without the skull?

I'm beginning to think it is possible that the searchers also found the skull but did not share that fact with anyone, including the parents. Just a gut feeling - IMO.

Mark Redwine said investigators told him they had found only four or five of his son's bones and that they would continue searching. He said authorities told him his son was ravaged by wildlife.

Investigators also found a piece of the boy's shirt, one sock and his shoestrings but not the backpack or other items he had when he went missing, Redwine said.

BBM

That "one sock" really tugged at my heart.

I think it may be very possible that LE is not releasing information about all body parts or items found. I have to agree with you. This team of investigators have been very tight lipped but on top of the case all along.

LE only releases information to see what "leads/information" they receive after the release (you may have shared this tidbit at one time...:blushing:)

Interesting that Mark felt the need to "discuss" with media his conversations with LE.

First he wouldn't speak to media, now it seems he seeks media attention for himself.

If in fact the 9:37 text from Dylan was to his friend talking about seeing him the next morning (I think previously arranged to meet at 630 am), it speaks volumes to me that something happened shortly after that text and only one person was with Dylan at that time.

Remember way back when MR said he believed Dylan was far away and no longer even in the area?
