Dylan Redwine Case Discussion Thread/Dylan's Remains Found

I just watched the Dr. Phil episodes again and MR seems to focus a lot on the fact that he "wasn't" the last person to see Dylan (according to him). He repeatedly states that the mail carrier saw Dylan walking down the road with a friend. Now, I don't put much stock in any eyewitness accounts on any case, given how notoriously unreliable they are. But, has LE questioned all of Dylan's local friends simply to rule out that they were not walking down the road with him at any point that day? I guess I'm just hoping this eyewitness account has been discredited so that we can move on and focus on a real perp.

If only Dylan had answered R.'s text on Monday, or texted anyone else, I would find it far easier to suspect a local bad guy whom no one suspects. But I find it impossible to get past that. If he truly would not get up on time, I feel he would have grabbed his phone to text and check texts immediately upon waking.

Yes, this has been ruled out. I don't have the link handy but there are multiple MSM articles addressing the mail lady and other kids and Dylan was not seen by anyone.

From the March 19th press release from LE:

According to the La Plata County Sheriff’s Office, on November 19, 2012, the day Dylan Redwine was reported missing, there was a reported sighting by a local postal worker indicating that Dylan was seen walking with another boy in Vallecito at about 2:00 PM. Investigators have identified and contacted these two young people and determined they have no connection to Dylan’s disappearance. Investigators continue to investigate reported sightings in Colorado and other states, but to date, none have been confirmed.

The full press release is in the media thread.

Lisa Crombie, who works at the restaurant where Dylan’s mother and brother Cory dined earlier in the week, instantly knew by their body language that something was wrong and when Dylan came through her lunch line when she worked for the Bayfield School District, his body language told her he was troubled.

When Elaine was interviewed by MB in February, 2013, she said Dylan was missing school in Bayfield because he was getting sick and we all know Mark and Elaine’s divorce was long and contentious because of Mark, that Dylan met privately with the Judge at the custody hearing, and Mark was upset when Elaine was appointed Dylan’s primary caregiver.

Even though Mark claimed during an interview with MB that Dylan was closer to him than he was to his mother, Dylan did not respond to Mark’s text messages after Dylan and Mark went on a trip together.

Mark refers to Dylan as a peacemaker but if it was obvious to Elaine and Lisa that Dylan was troubled possibly due to the abuse Mark inflicted upon his mother for most of his life, how could he not know his bitterness towards his ex-wife was hurting his son and causing him dis-ease? AND, why didn’t he have the decency to stop bickering with Elaine for Dylan’s sake when he was getting physically ill? Was it because he worked out-of-town and was oblivious to the fact his bitter attitude towards his ex-wife was slowing killing his vulnerable son?

Sunday evening after Mark told Dylan he couldn't go and stay the night with Ryan, he texted Ryan and said he would be there by 6:30 am the following day, so it sounds to me like Mark's decision to make Dylan overnight with him caused Dylan to have a severe panic attack and when people are under stress, they are in a fight or flight mode.

When I listened to Trish’s latest interview, Rain said Dylan could have crossed the creek. So, did Dylan pretend to be asleep when his father tried to get him up Monday morning because he was attempting to flee from him as soon as possible and that's why he left without contacting anyone first and when he crossed the creek, he had an accident that caused his death? Or did Mark physically attack Dylan and harm him to hurt Elaine? MOO

<snipped>

Everyone was in anticipation and hoping they'd find something," said Lisa Crombie, who works at the restaurant where Dylan's mother and brother, Cory, dined earlier in the week. Their body language told her something was wrong, Crombie said.

Crombie remembered the quiet but troubled Dylan coming through her lunch line when she worked for Bayfield School District.

Mark Redwine, who fought a long, contentious divorce and custody battle with Dylan's mother, Elaine Redwine.....

In Bayfield, he… you know... he would…”I’m sick today”.

"I want to talk to them about going to the location so I can be close to my son, but I don't know the specific locations where the remains were found," Very Chilling statement. Do you all see what I see here? Mark says actually says 2 percent of his son's remains were found but states " I don't know the specific locations where remains were found." He says LOCATIONS as in plural. Yet he is addressing only 2 percent of remains that le found.
IMHO I would just want to go to the mountain itself not the specific location. I would then personally declare that whole mountain my sons. I find it very odd he wants to go to specific locationS (plural).

TIMELINE (please correct me if I am wrong)
Nov 17 Dylan is scheduled to fly into Durango. His flight was canceled by the airlines, and rescheduled for the next day. Dylan made plans to spend the night with friends on Nov. 18
Nov. 18 Dylan Redwine flew to Durango Airport, landed and as was picked up by his father Sunday evening November 18, 2012 - verified by security cameras. Nov 18 Dylan and his father go to Walmart after the airport - this has been verified through security cameras. According to Mark they went to McDonald’s it has not been verified that Dylan was indeed there. Through text messages Dylan reschedules plans to arrive at his friends house the next morning at 6:30 a.m. to hang out. All electronic messages from Dylan stops at 9:37 p.m. Dylan's father Mark said he stirred around the house early in the morning to wake Dylan but he didn't want to get up, so he went to town without him around 7:30 a.m. Dylan’s friends attempt to contact him to find out where he is. Mark stated he ran errands in Durango during the morning and returned home at 11:30 a.m. to find Dylan gone from the house. (His where abouts during this time has been confirmed by investigators?) Dylan's cell phone and all the belongings he brought from his mother’s are also missing. Mark stated in an interview that he took a nap when he returned home from his errands. He said he thought Dylan may be out playing by himself or may have walked to a friends house. The friend in reference lives 5.9 miles from Marks house. At 4:15 Mark said he went to the friends house that Dylan was supposed to be hanging with to see if Dylan showed up there. Two of Dylan's friends there they said they had been trying to contact him all day to no avail. Mark then said he went to the Marshal's office to express his concern that he couldn't find Dylan. Mark ?TEXTS? Dylan’s mother to see if she knows his where-abouts, she drove immediately from Colorado Springs to Durango to aid in the search. Dylan's brother and other family members accompanied her, she arrived Monday night. La Plata County search and rescue searched for Dylan Monday night and all day Tuesday. LE did a preliminary search of his home.Search dogs detected a scent on the road near Marks house, but it couldn't be verified that it was Dylan's because at the time there was nothing for the dog's to catch a scent from. The family is subjected to polygraph tests. Marks's test was inclusive. LE asked him retake it, and he has refused. Dylan's cell phone records have been checked? His phone had been turned off since Sunday night. All sex offenders in the area have been checked and accounted for?
The lake and surrounding areas have been searched and scoured by hundreds of volunteers, to include, abandoned buildings, houses, barns, sheds etc.
2 cadaver dogs, separately catch a scent from a boat off of the dam. Divers were brought in but They were unable to find anything the first day.
Boats with hi-tech sonar were brought in and the entire area in front of the dam was checked. Nothing was found.A task force was formed and house to house, business to business interviews are being conducted from the dam on the southend of the lake to the north end of the lake.Dylan was not considered to be a run away by authorities.
A search warrant was issued to search Mark's property, to include his house and his vehicles. The Sheriff's office maintains that Mark is not a suspect. The search of his home by the task force is because that was the last area that Dylan was presumably in and they have to start somewhere. This is standard in missing cases.
A few days after the search Mark does another interview with media and has rumbled blanket and pillow on the couch. There is also a cereal bowl on the counter that he says Dylan ate out of. (Why would a cereal bowl be left out days later) He also states that the TV was tuned to Nickalodean. Nickalodean on Monday morning is geared for 4 year olds.
Helicopters were in the air again on Day 15, boats on the lake again as well. Nothing was found but several things were tagged and 10 items picked up for further examining, but LE said nothing about whether they were valid clues or not.
Blood hounds were brought in to see if they could pick up any scent of Dylan.
They were taken around to the same areas that had been covered before and no scent was found.
A team of bloodhounds have been brought back in and have been at the lake for almost a week searching.
The family flew to LA to appear on the Dr. Phil Show and beg the Nation to look for Dylan.
Feb. 23 - Cadaver dogs show up and hit on numerous areas over Vallecito Reservoir

Dr. Phil shows aired Feb. 26 and Feb 27.

April 24 - Authorities drain part of reservoir and build berm dam to look at area where search dogs got numerous hits

June 25 - Authorities spend several days searching the steep and rugged Middle Mountain Road
June 27- Authorities reveal clues and bones and/or body found

I wonder, if there is a trial (and if MR is the suspect), would whatever Dylan told the judge come out?

Heart breaking that his friends who are also only 13/14 have to go though such a tragic lose. Also we have seen photos from the searches/fundraisers with all of Dylan's friend banding together and helping out.

It makes you wonder when even teenage friends do more to help there friend than a supposedly loving parent who on a radio show astonishing said he had not even handed out posters .

Walking in my regular little park this morning, I saw a single boy's sock in the grass. :(

I was thinking it might be helpful, to members new to this thread, to read posts from AZgrandma (a verified insider). You get a good idea of the character that MR has. It always made me think of the saying, past behavior is an indication of future behavior. Mr hasn't changed one bit in decades.

Does anyone know anything about the message sent from Dylan's phone at 9:37? I find it a little odd (just a little, this isn't anything I would hang my hat on) that Dylan didn't acknowledge ("OK" or "kk") either of the previous two texts from R (one telling him to knock on the sliding glass door and the one at 9:27 asking him to call when he got to R's gma's house).

Does anyone know who got the text at 9:37? Was it out of the blue or part of a conversation? I'm sure LE must have checked, but is anything known by the public?

This article has the transcript of the texts with R:

I know this wasn't for me, but to me, "Investigators have never named Mark or Elaine as suspects in Dylan’s disappearance" is not the same as "the police say he doesn't have anything to with it". In the former, LE hasn't named anyone. It does not mean they don't suspect anyone, it only means they haven't identified that person AS a suspect. In the latter, LE out and out says he doesn't have anything to do with it.

That is why I happen to see those two sentences differently. Your mileage may vary. Thanks for the link.

ITA, and the only statement from LE that holds any weight with me is when they state that someone has been officially cleared.

Nothing has been released on that as far as I know. LE is attributing that message to Dylan. Are they absolutely certain Dylan was the one who actually send it?

The other "thing" that must be addressed--in MOO, IMO--is Mark's alcohol/substance abuse. He is a heavy drinker, IMO. I certainly don't know how much or how often he drinks to excess, but this factor certainly contributes to his perception of the world (Alcoholics tend to have limited "world perspective.") His anger would be heightened and his inhibitions lowered if he were drinking while "he was doing a few things around the house" that Sunday evening. If DR said the wrong thing...if he showed disrespect...that anger at ER...the delay in the flight...the need to attend to financial matters (i.e. the rent check is in the mail, the alimony check is being sent, the expense of the flight and entertainment for a son who may not have been acting grateful)....all of these things could easily have set him off, and he struck out at the nearest target.

Exactly. And this behavior includes doing things like having sex with a woman outside your ex-wife's bedroom window for her and your son's to hear and see.

the last text from Dylans phone was around 8pm, the 9.37pm text was from his ipod touch (which requires wifi availability for text to function)

we have not heard anything other than the time of that last text.

I am assuming there is something in that last message due to the fact it has not been released and we have no idea who Dylan even sent it to.

R has released the convo he had with Dylan that night via text. But the remaining message is a complete mystery .

ETA - I wonder if Mark even knew the iPod touch had texting capabilitys ?!

whats your opinion about this excerpt from LPCSOs press release in March?

'Elaine Redwine, Dylan’s brother Cory Redwine, and Elaine’s fiancé Mike Hall remained in the Colorado Springs area when Dylan flew to Durango by himself on November 18th for a Court ordered visit with Mark Redwine for the Thanksgiving holiday. Elaine, Cory and Mike were still in the Colorado Springs area when Mark sent the message to Elaine the following afternoon asking about Dylan. Shortly after receiving Mark’s inquiry, Elaine, Cory and Mike traveled to Durango'
