The Ohio Department of Health says Vinson visited family from Oct. 8-13 and flew Monday from Cleveland to Dallas.She was in town to plan her wedding with her mother and fiancee.

This article from Reuters says the Ebola patient's mother has since traveled to Texas. Seems she should be isolated, too.

ER doc brushed him off with a prescription for antibiotics.

He was there for 4 hours, got CT Scans plural, and blood tests. They misdiagnosed, but did not brush him off. At all.

Hubby and I are trying to count up how many major airline pilots live in our private community- 50 miles W of Dallas. We think there are well over a dozen who commute via their private planes to DFW Intnl. or Love Field for each assigned flight.
It puts things in a whole new perspective... I'd really like to see borders closed right now, not when there's widespread infectious disease.

Plasma is the only part of blood that is transfused per Dr. Brantley. BTW there are no ABO antigens in plasma. The reason Duncan did not receive a transfusion was not because he was not a match...!!!

ETA: a match is not necessary fo one to receive plasma from another.

Every story I have read is that the types have to match. Do you have a link?

Blood type does not matter for plasma transfusion. Antigens are on the red blood cells which are removed from plasma. Type A can receive plasma from Type B as well as Type O or AB. It doesn't matter.

there is an exception to that. I saw someone post it on another site. Was it maybe something about rh?

Key words here are "blood transfusion". Plasma aka FFP is not a blood transfusion because the blood has been filtered out. Wrong type blood transfusion can lead to death because of antigen-antibody reaction. Antigens are only on the red blood cells, not in the liquid portion which is plasma.mtyping and matching is nice but not necessary for plasma, except in case of a pregnant woman.

I'm going to defer to the doctors until I hear further:

Brantley was not a match for Duncan. This has been confirmed by every official in the know related to this case in TX, CDC, etc. The following links also back up the fact that his plasma wasn't compatible.

The president stressed that Ebola is not spread as the flu is, by way of sneezes or coughs. The virus is only spread by direct contact with the bodily fluids of someone who was infected and is exhibiting symptoms of the virus, which include a fever and vomiting.

In the last thread, somebody asked why several students in Fairfax County schools are being tested for EVD. I wonder if its bc somebody could have shared a flight with Duncan. He flew from Liberia to Brussels to Dulles (Fairfax/Loudoun Ctys in VA) then to TX.he had a short layover in Dulles VA before flying to TX.

I hope the govt makes an exception for these students' absences if any are in the public school system which has mandatory in-school time. Hopefully that can do work online? Plastic protectors can be used for keyboards. If they don't have comps then maybe some could be donated.
