I swear there has to be some reason people are vomiting their heads off in Dallas in public places. I never heard of this happening before now. Is there a Norovirus traveling around or what?

MOO but I really wish the press in Dallas would take a deep breath, pop the clutch and stop acting like hysterical boys and girls. I for one am weary of the Breaking News when someone simply threw up.
In no way is this pointed towards anyone here as I always search here for any breaking news. I'm addressing the press only because that's where it starts and they are supposed to be professionals.
Both nurses were in the hospital and diagnosed before we knew anything about them. I suspect that anyone else that falls ill with Ebola (pray there are no more) will be checked in, tested and in isolation before it's reported.
Someone up thread mentioned quicker test results in Dallas due to recent changes. That is correct, the Department of Health in Dallas has been cleared to perform the blood test versus sending the sample to Austin.
Dallas Fire-Rescue spokesman Jason Evans said they were called to the scene because the woman reported being ill from a spider bite on her hand.
"While medics were assessing the patient, she shared information, which included living in the same apartment building as the first confirmed Ebola patient (Mr. Duncan) in addition to being under ordered quarantine. This, coupled with patient presentation, led them to believe they could be dealing with a potential Ebola exposure," Evans said in a statement. "However, since initial patient contact was made, it has been confirmed that not only did this person not live in the same apartment building, but she did not reside in the same apartment complex. It has also been confirmed that she is not on ANYONE'S Ebola watch list [emphasis his], and therefore not under any issued quarantine[.]"
DART spokesman Morgan Lyons said the person exited a northbound Blue Line train at the station and spit on the platform.

Supposedly there is a lot of flu going on up here. We need to remember that the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex is a huge area. For those of you who are not familiar with the area it might help if you pulled out a map of Texas. To the west starting with Weatherford to Terrill in the east is all town. Same thing with Cleburne in the south to Denton in the north. I need to see if I can find the total of population of this area.
I believe the population of DFW is thought to be around 7 million.
A few weeks ago, my daughter was flying to Denver from North Carolina. She got very air sick. She held on until the end of the flight, grabbed an air sickness bag, stepped out of the plane, and tried to get to a bathroom. She didn't make it and got sick in the gangway (into the bag, fortunately). If that happened to her today, I don't want to think about what would ensue.
http://www.pressherald.com/2014/10/...y-teacher-on-leave-after-traveling-to-dallas/A Maine teacher at Strong Elementary School was placed on a 21-day paid leave of absence after parents told the school board they were concerned that she might have been exposed to Ebola during a trip to Dallas for an educational conference.
parents and community members expressed frustration that they were not notified that the teacher would be traveling to Dallas, where the nations first Ebola case was diagnosed.
The hotel where the teacher stayed is about 10 miles from Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital, where the first case of the virus was diagnosed.

Apologies if this was already posted but this, IMO, is so ridiculous I had to post it.

As a Mainer, I think this is beyond ridiculous. Matter of fact, an attorney friend of mine was in Dallas for a conference, staying around the same distance from THP as this teacher, during the week that Mr. Duncan was initially diagnosed. However, like this teacher, he was nowhere near any of the potential contact areas (i.e, hospital, apartment complex...) and he has not been quarantined - nor should he be. What do you all think? Just curious...
