Ellen Degeneres under fire for giving away dog

  • #241
Why would they need to drive to Pasadena to let them 'evaluate' their dogs, when the rescue people were right there, could see all the dogs play together and 'evaluate' the heck out of them (hopefully not in fron of the children!).

I don't think the rescue agency wanted to let them keep the dog. I think they wanted another fat adoption fee from another idiot who was willing to pay a premium to feel like they were doing the right thing.

Fundiva, I can call her Ms Uppity if I want to, which is nicer than what some others are calling her. I guess Ms Uppity is the only one in this situation who doesn't have to follow rules. And no one is disputing that Ellen went around the rules. She admits that. Now will Ms Uppity admit she's a b*tch?[/quote]

WHY was Portia allowed to sign a contract that was not hers to sign, since it was not in her name?

Sami

I bet she won't sign anything without the legal team looking it over ever again!

I'm siding with Ellen on this. There are so many unwanted pets in this world!! Iggy was in a home where he was loved.

I wonder if Iggy really is with another family. I saw a comment on another forum to the effect that there were reports he had been put to sleep. :(

Maybe Ellen and Portia can fund an adoption agency with rules that are ultimately better for the pet!

Omg, I hope that's not true! That would explain Ellen suddenly canceling her taping today. I know this is upsetting, but I kept thinking...she cancelled her shows because of this?

When I saw she cancelled her taping, I thought that maybe the powers that be asked her to take a breather and come back with a fresh attitude. I don't mean that in a negative way.

No. I don't believe that.

My hope is that Ellen has decided to leave this to her legal team, concentrate on her career, and remove herself from the media concerning this in the mean time. Let legal handle it, that's what they are paid for.

But, if she has decided that it has just gotten out of hand, and to let it go, I certainly understand that as well.

Some situations only get uglier with more attention. Sometimes it is better to walk away. I look forward to developments in the future.

I do think Ellen will rise above the rest, whatever the outcome. Sometimes, admitting that nothing can be changed by the battle, is a victory in itself.

The dog has a home (we've been told).

Ellen does need to let her legal team take care of it. The impression I got from her statement yesterday is that she was backing off publicly. She commented about the death threats saying it's happened to her in the past and they aren't fun. There definitely needs to be some oversite and accountability regarding rescue groups, to weed out the bad ones. It's like anything else, buyer beware. But death threats and shows cancelled? That's a bit much.

I agree with this. However, she does have the resources to see that this happens without being personally involved.

This has taken an emotional tole on her, that is obvious. This, plus the extra media attention, which means extra interviews, time with legal and media consultants, interviews, etc.. long long hours.... Add into that the fact that she is moving..I couldn't handle the extra stress. This darn thing snowballed into a mass media fiasco. I think she deserves a day off, and apparently her producers do also, after all, she has tomorrow's show in the can, she filmed two today. Her audience was given tickets to another show, and they can still come see the musical performer tomorrow (sorry, don't remember who is playing). I am sorry for the dissapointed fans, but people seem to forget that even celebrities are human, and she has shown herself to be more human than most.

The thing is, if everything gets quiet for awhile, and Ellen doesn't fuel the fire w/ comments, this will quieten down. Her show will return to normal, and her fans will be happy.

Next year, few people will remember this ever happened. The next Celebrity gossip will have the run of the media, and this will be a thing of the past.

And hopefully, Iggy has a good home.

Sounds to me like she has control issues.. She has rules that are down right nuts and she wants to control every single thing in that dogs life even after someone has adopted it..She really is nuts. Someone said in one of the posts above me here that they wouldnt adopt out the dog to the lady because her husband had to hold her back from attacking ms rescue queen...believe me if some nutcase came to my house and ripped my puppy who my kids just loved and adored out of our life like that it would take a whole heck of alot to hold me back from going at her as well. Ugh I am still sooo mad about this. :banghead:

LOL reb...I first misread about the following requirements!! I thought those WERE her requirements...and by the time I got to #4 I thought WTH, let me go back read this again!!

Yes..her application is BS and I've never filled one out like that that had those restrictions. How does a rescue ban a dog being adopted to homes with kids??? Some great dogs will miss out on some great families with kids. No other pets...I couldn't live without 2 Danes. They keep each other so entertained. No head out the window? My dogs would never go for a ride again if I didn't let them do that!!! That rescue is looney for sure!!!

That's exactly it Sadie...she definitely has control issues. If she's a REAL rescue you objective is to do what's BEST for the dog. She has some really stupid adoption rules!! If she's so concerned and wants to stay in control of what happens to the dogs...then should should keep them all and not adopt them out. I read on a comments section at MSNBC about this. One of the commenters has been to her store and said dogs are kept in wire cages in a back room. And she has the NERVE to impose ridiculous rules while the dogs are caged for who knows how many hours in a day while in her care! This woman is a nut job, and I don't mind seeing her go down.

OH-- and another one (from the contract)!!:

"dog must NOT be allowed to run free at any time...." Yeah, well, isn't that what leash-free dog parks are for.......????????

It amazes me that anyone in their right mind would sign such a contract.
I would be in big trouble with that beyotch!!!

  • #255
exactly!! so,, now your dog isn't allowed to run and play, in a public park (if it's well-behaved, of course)?? THAT I would call cruel. I have visions of this woman hiring secret detectives to follow adopters around,, spying on them. You know, Big Brother style.

WOW, I couldn't see the forest for the trees.

What I want to know is how a lesbian woman, in today's world, was ever allowed to adopt an animal. What is the world coming to?

In one of her videos, doesn't she complain about people that leave their dogs for 8 hours a day?

I am just throwing this out there.....
Why did the hairdresser give her the dog back?

I would not have.. She would need to take me to court.
The hairdresser signed no contract with this loony tune. I would simply have told her to get the hell off of my property.
