Embezzlement charges: discussion, etc.

So what's the August date in court? Is that to present Raven's decision to the court? Will the media cover it once it's public record in court?

So, he didn't take the plea? Or do we even know yet?

Don't know for sure, but he sure would be a moron if he didn't take it but come to think about it.....ah forgetaboutit lol.

This is the week. Very interesting that the media has been absolutely quiet on the embezzlement charges especially in light of the new stories that came out last week.

Well, Moxie just posted a link in the media thread confirming that Raven did in fact take the deal and plead guilty on the embezzlement charges.

hmmmm .... wonder if the rumors as to what he actually plead guilty too are going to match reality ? ? ? :p

Well, it's still showing as FELONY charges on the site. I wonder if Raven is going to have to have to show up, which I believe he should, but I have a feeling Raven's attorney may end up handling this for him, but think he should have to stand in front of the Judge himself and take it like a man!

Oh, he's gonna have to appear. Bet he's $hitting a bright yellow brick of gold right now wondering what was on those disks that LE got their hands on! :bang:

Will he be able to leave the state of NC a free man?

I also would think that he would have to appear. This is the hearing to attend. Let's make sure someone from the media is covering this story on Friday. Maybe someone here (posters or lurkers) that live in the area could attend also. That way we will get more information about what happened. Would love to know the details of the ADA's plea offer. Pay back how much, how long is probation and how many felony counts on raven's record?

Court Is Today!
Today??? Are the charges still felony? Meaning, he is pleading guilty to felony and felony charges will be on his record?

The husband of a woman found dead in her home will plead guilty to embezzlement charges.

The Orange County District Attorney's office says Raven Abaroa agreed to plead guilty to five counts of embezzlement.

Durham police found his wife, Janet, stabbed to death in April. The couple's six-month-old son was home at the time but was not injured.

I just don't know, but I can't imagine how they would be switched to a misdemeanor. I mean isn't there a definition of felony embezzlement that is dictated by the amount taken? If you're over that amount it's a FELONY, not a misdemeanor!!!!

Okay, well, we will have to stay tuned.

Moxie, because it's driving me nuts, I went through the NC Statutes. There is no misdemeanor embezzlement listed. So unless they charged him with something other than embezzlement it looks like it has to be felony charges.

The news isn't reporting that he plead guilty to anything but embezzlement.

Possibly.

Just like all those other Eurosport employees who were supposedly busted for embezzlement as well.

We never did find anything about those imaginary co-workers.
