She does look awesome. Healthy, engaged in the present/now and seemingly really tackling forging her life/future post meltdown of last year.

Good for her! I am glad she is staying with her parents post rehab as it truly seems to agree with her health and wellbeing.

Amanda Bynes' mother just came out publicly and said her daughter does NOT suffer from Schizophrenia or bipolar disorder -- she says the only problem Amanda had was weed -- but multiple sources tell TMZ ... that's just NOT true.

Amanda's mom says all her her daughter's problems emanated from marijuana, and she is now weed-free, so Amanda is off ALL medications. Lynn Bynes says, "She has no mental illness whatsoever."

Reminds me of the movie, Cookie's Fortune- Glenn Close plays a character, Camille, and she will not accept that Aunt Cookie has committed suicide, you see no body in their family commits suicide because only crazy people kill themselves. IDK I think it's the stigma of mental illness versus smoking weed.

very sad to see this young lady back in the news (in a bad way).

I had hoped when she left rehab and was evaluated mentally that she could get back on track. It is my sincere belief that she has mental health issues. Lifelong struggle for many. Your meds and getting sober make you feel better which makes you feel like you don't need the meds which leads to spinning out which leads to more rehab/evals etc and so forth.

C'Mon Amanda, you can do this, get it together hun.

Poor Amanda. When I was a kid I eagerly devoured The Amanda Show. I hope that she can get the help she needs again. I wasn't even aware she was on anti-psychotropic drugs.

Not sure if this is necessarily associated with cannabis use and a mother in denial of very real mental issues, or a mother looking to cover for her daughter in the public light. Or it's none of the above and it is instead bad reporting from TMZ, lol.

FWIW, I don't think cannabis caused any of these problems, but if she does indeed have bi polar disorder, marijuana probably isn't for her. I say this as someone who is very educated and passionate about the legalization of recreational and medicinal MJ. It isn't for everyone.

I had a very, very dear friend who struggled with addiction (alcohol, cannabis, prescription meds, MDMA, the works) as a manic episode of his bi polar disorder set in. He had stopped taking his medicine long before the episode because getting sober made him feel so good that he believed the medicine was no longer necessary- just like you said, tlcya. And then the cycle starts again.

It was very difficult for his parents to be able to step in and give him the help he needed, because as he was a young adult at the time, they did not legally have the ability to enact any kind of involuntary psychiatric care. Couldn't agree anymore with the post by gitana1. I've seen it happen personally.

It just goes to show that mental illness does not discriminate. It can affect anyone. Old, young, rich, poor, Hollywood actress or not. Hopefully Amanda can get the help that she needs after this most recent DUI arrest. She was a really talented comedian as a young girl. Perhaps the DUI will be the straw that breaks the camel's back, so to speak, in light of a possible conservatorship for her parents.
