If and notice the if, the Saudi national is being deported on "national security grounds" it means he was doing something very, very bad. Normally people are deported for mundane reasons like overstayed visas, drug smuggling, and being in the nation illegally.

I get a kick out of Homeland Security asking us for our help ... how are we supposed to help if you wont even tell us what we are looking for? This is spurring people to pick out random people and it's making things worse. Show us the pictures! Give us a real description at the very least.

Then again we are talking about Janet "The borders are as secure as ever" Napolitano

Sadly in some cases that's true. But the press's responsibility is not to "work with" the government. It is to report facts, to inform citizens, to protect liberty.

What wfg said!!

Thank you!

The Saudi guy has relatives with ties to al-Qaeda.

I've seen another report that he won't be deported. Another report stating his 'file' has been sealed by POTUS.

IMO, the news agencies are reporting rumor and speculation as facts.

No, they just share the same last name. His last name is very common.

The only sources I can find that say the SAudi national will be deported are right wing opinion sites. Ad they all source back some guy who appeared on Hannity and Glen Beck who cited "sources" of his own for this "information".

Not necessarily. He could have members in his extended family that have ties to questionable activities but he could be innocent of any and all ill will. There was an evacuation at B&W. authorities went through his apartment, questioned his roommates extensively, reports all over the media latched on & net detectives everywhere researched thoroughly - info went viral from the very beginning. I maintain I think this kid is innocent & was taken under the Saudi Ambassador's wing for protection. He was only here on a student visa. He had shrapnel wounds to the back of his legs. He probably would feel safer to be with his immediate family in his homeland imo. Here in the US, the implication was there right from the beginning. It created a dangerous situation for this young man.

I personally believe these leaks are being done on purpose and not for vicious reasons. Govt officials have worked hand in hand with media outlets for many many many years.

Agree.

Going to edit in a bit of what I've found on where the deportation story is coming from:

"On Sean Hannity's Fox News program Wednesday night, terror expert Steve Emerson cited sources saying Abdul Rahman Ali Alharbi, the Saudi national who was briefly named a "person of interest" in the Boston Marathon bombings, is being deported on Tuesday."

More to come

Gardenlady, I heard it with my own ears last night watching CNN & FoxNews. They were the only 2 channels I switched back & forth between.

An interesting thread on reddit about the guys in that pic. Their Facebook pages don't seem suspicious at all, just the opposite.

NOTE: The reddit thread does not contain any links to their Facebooks, not even their names, just info about what's on their FB's. And obviously their names or links to their Facebooks shouldn't be posted here.

Here is "the blaze" - citing the same Emerson guy, who appeared on Hannity. And Glen Beck lol. Yet in an update, apparently Beck's people are now walking it back, saying the Saudi may NOT be deported.

jersey Girl, I've no doubt you heard that on CNN and Fox, both of whom have been completely unreliable. I'm trying to figure out where everyone is getting it from. So far, the source seems to be this Emerson guy on Hannity, who in turn says he got it from HIS unnamed "sources", and cites the fact that Obama had a meeting with a Saudi official that wasn't on his official calendar as proof that he'd been strong armed into not arresting the guy, but instead deporting him, to save the Saudis the embarrassment.

Bah, forgot the link to the Blaze:

This is all so laughable.

I read this am that obama met with the saudi officials iirc at the WH (un-scheduled) yesterday. Then after that we hear the saudi will be deported. Then we hear that 2 people are seen video/photos, being suspicious, then all heck breaks loose and reports of arrest/courthouse then nothing. Then obama will be in boston for service/memorial and everybody got it all wrong, and how dare the public look for suspects, wearing white baseball caps and black shirt w/grey hoodie and carrying backpacks and duffel bags big enough to hold a breadbox/crockpot. Some folks pick out people that mirror that description and all heck breaks loose. idk jmo

Saudi Embassy Refutes Media Reports of Citizen Involved in Boston Attack
April 16, 2013

Snipped:
(Washington, DC) -- The Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia would like to clarify U.S. media reports that a Saudi national is considered a suspect in the April 15, 2013 explosions in Boston. The Embassy stresses that there is no evidence, according to U.S. authorities, of involvement of any Saudi national in the bombings. The Saudi government condemns all forms of violence, offers its condolences to the families of the victims, and wishes a speedy recovery for all who were injured.
According to the latest information, two Saudi students were among those injured in the explosions and are being treated at local hospitals in Boston. Their injuries are not considered serious.

The deputy consul general in New York and the assistant Saudi cultural attaché in Washington, D.C. arrived in Boston Monday evening to visit the injured Saudi students, check on the welfare of other Saudi citizens, and provide consular services as needed.
