I think they have someone and they don't want us to know yet but it was leaked so now they are saying it's not true. A terrorism suspect isn't treated the same way another crime suspect would be, IMO. I think they want to say they don't have anyone yet because they are looking for others and maybe want to see if the others will try and contact the one they arrested.

It's not racist to call describe someone with brown skin as having brown skin. It's more appropriate than calling someone the wrong ethnicity. Which happens to me almost every day of my life I meet someone new. No biggie.

Heck, I'm brown skinned. My Husband is browner skinned and gets described as black (or african american which is not his ethnicity) all the time. Why the uproar over being described as brown skinned?

I think whoever wrote that article over there at Gawker was being more than a little snarky and holier than thou IMHO.

Anway...I do hope they have the right person in custody and this isn't a false alarm.

Investigators reported major progress in the Boston Marathon bombing case Wednesday, but that there had been no arrest, despite conflicting news accounts.

The only thing I worry about is people who could possibly be suffering from situational depression (brought on by the bombing) finding out they're seen as suspects and then feeling worse. I would hate for it to be seen as online bullying. But it's a balancing act - we all want to know who did this, and at times like this it's natural to be curious and to look for answers.

Then there's the whole innocent until proven guilty thing.

Doesn't anyone remember Richard Jewell, 1996 Atlanta Summer Olympics?

Richard Jewell - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Initially hailed by the media as a hero, Jewell was later considered a suspect. Jewell's case is considered an example of the damage that can be done by reporting based on unreliable or incomplete information.[2]

Despite never being charged, he underwent a "trial by media" with great toll on his personal and professional life. Eventually he was completely exonerated; Eric Robert Rudolph was later found to have been the bomber.[3][4] In 2006, Governor Sonny Perdue publicly thanked Jewell on behalf of the state of Georgia for saving the lives of those at the Olympics.

He died in 2007 at the age of 45. RIP, Richard Jewell.

I am relatively new here.

Can someone tell me what "downstairs" means? I have seen this referenced throughout the whole bombing thing.

Is it the Scanner thread, which is in the Parking Lot? That's what I have been thinking this whole time, but if I am wrong I want to be made whole by being corrected! LOL!!

Yes corundogs, it refers to one of the private forums that only members can access.

It also gets called the Basement too. HTH :)

CBS News: Possible suspect in Boston bomb blast is a male, white, wearing gray hooded sweatshirt, black jacket, white baseball cap

I'm doubting this was the work of one guy! If there were multiple backpacks placed then there has to be more than one. People probably had to park pretty far away and walk to the spectator spots. Can you imagine a guy with 5 or so backpacks walking around? Unless he placed some of the the night before, I just don't see how one person did this. I'm new to this forum so if this was discussed before - nevermind!

Looks like the people surrounding the courthouse in Boston think something has happened. Feds may be trying to keep this quiet for safety. May be an accomplice that could place more bombs. What a mess!

I'm predicting we will hear of arrest at 5pm news conference. :)

Hopefully nobody jumps to conclusions about this "suspect" until people are sure.
I still think it's a white guy. :twocents:

We already have one innocent person who's been accused, searched and identified in the media...

I still can't believe that NOBODY looked at him as another innocent victim.
I cannot imagine seeing him running away injured and automatically thinking "suspect!"

Plus the two guys removed from the flight.

Let's stop it at that. :twocents:

These are seriously bad leaks. It cannot be good to be releasing that the suspect has been ID'd before (s)he's in custody. Only gives the perp a better chance to run. Someone's in trouble for that. CNN: "...significant blowback from the leaks..."

Now to sort out the difference between identified, arrested, and in custody. Maybe they have him in custody or en route but don't want it said "arrested" because it changes his legal rights.

Maybe they are floating the contradiction/leak to prompt the perp to do something.

But if this is just a mistake it's no good at all.

ahhh... so black jacket over a grey hoodie. That changes my search.

  • #1,080
I guess I am picturing a black coat over the grey hoodie, with the hood of it pulled out over the back of the coat? So you would see black coat and the grey hood?
