Next time you need medical treatment, I doubt you'll be going to see an editor for a diagnosis & treatment. IMO

This reminds me about the debate over the word 'theory'.

A diagnosis is indeed a doctors opinion, but it's an opinion backed by their experience and education in medicine. Opinion blogs on news sites and aggregate sites, are usually just ramblings of someone who has a venue. We get many crazy conspiracy theories on various opinion blogs.

That said, "To the web-driven “Free Justina” movement, the state’s decision to take Pelletier away from her family last year, after a hospital raised concerns that she may have been abused, was a textbook case of an overweening government trampling a family’s rights. That version of events cast aside all nuances, placing the state firmly in the role of villain. But on the most basic level, DCF acted correctly when it responded to a credible allegation of child abuse."

bbm 7 months iirc.

7 months what? If you're talking about the doctor in the ER, you may be recalling the lie that Lou was telling.

The last time (2 yrs) I had an emergency appendectomy I left before the dr came to check me out, he took to long, then when I went to his office for a follow up they asked too many ? on the form so I left there too. I don't play well with dr's and their schedule so I tend to walk out, leave, if you will. I don't go to the dr unless I have something that needs taken care of, I am not into check-ups. If it ain't broke leave it alone kind of thing.

So correct me if I'm wrong, you have an admitted bias against doctors?

So are you saying that should you need emergency surgery in the future, you'd be willing to have some random person who thinks they know something about medicine, do it? I'm not sure I'm following you here.

No not all. But when I go in to have my appendix removed in an emergency surgery and then go for a follow up and I see a ? on the form to fill out before I see the dr that has absolutely nothing to do with my appendix removal that's when I have a problem. Other then what I saw him for is his business, nothing else.

That would be silly, although if I asked my hubby to stitch me up he would make his best attempt. There has been no true diagnosis other then a persons opinion that I am aware of. No scan, blood work, x-ray, nothing on paper so to speak, just an opinion. There are lots of flaky dr's out there, lots of people can pass a test and become something that requires a grade, doesn't mean they should. jmo idk

I'm curious to hear how you know Justina hasn't had scans, bloodwork, X-rays done and tons of stuff on paper?

This has all descended into some sort of cloud-cuckoo land now, where doctors ask questions because they're nosy or what... They're going to use the info in collusion with government? To carry out medical experimentations? Maybe they'll be carrying them out in FEMA camps. Patients will be dropped off via black helicopter. Please put on your tinfoil hats.

By the way, the hospital I live next door to here in Mass was just carrying out it's semi annual emergency/disaster preparedness training. Or so they say. I'm sure it's actually a sinister plot of some kind. Being on the front lines here, I'll report in with any news. Unless I am among the first to be disappeared. :help:

Okay, to be more serious for a moment.

Those questions you are asked (not required!) to fill out at the doctors office - there are health care screening and quality of service reasons for asking them.

Some of them are mental illness screening questions. "Do you feel sad for more than x number of days per week". "Have you lost interest in activities recently", etc. well, you know how on all these cases of mass shootings, for example, posters will say "it's not guns, it's mental illness! We need better screening and treatment for mental illness!"? Well guess what? These are very basic screening tools for MI.

But often the same people who don't want to address guns and say it's all mental illness are the same people who say screenin questions are too intrusive! None of the doctor/government's business!

While all information would be bound by doctor-patient confidentiality, he said he’s aware some people may be uncomfortable with data going to doctors and hospitals. For these people, the system is considering an opt-out mechanism that will keep their data private, Dulin said.

Like I said the dr that performed my appendectomy does not need to know anything else about my medical history, nothing... it's not his business. It's like telling the transmission guy about my air conditioner problems. jmo I have a primary care dr and I have a gastroenterologist, the dr the did emergency surgery I will never see again, he does not need a file on me.

Clearly you have some very strong opinions about this. That said, a surgeon that is going to cut you open, does indeed need some medical history, to do his job properly. Not to mention that if he doesn't ask and something happens to you, he opens himself up to being accused of being negligent.

You do know, that even if he doesn't have a file on you, if he is at the same hospital as your gastroenterologist, he can look at the file that they have on you, right? I mean they have access because if he's going to be cutting you open, it benefits you to have him informed.

This is all much like a pharmacist knowing ALL the drugs you're taking, it's not because he's nosy.
