Family kicked off flight after passengers complain about body odor

  • #21
We welcomed international guests frequently where I worked many years ago. I did notice that some of our guests from a certain country had an obvious odor. I put it down to the types of spices they used in their diets. Curry, for one, lingers regardless of bathing. There are several other foods that do the same. I believe dietary issues could have been a culprit here. JMO, MOO

There was a desperate search for Vick’s vapo-rub amongst us commoners in the back seats, but to no avail.

I think they switched our oxygen off at some point in coach while first and business class were given free wine.

LOL

Couldn't they "spread them out"...so the concentration was doable?

Spacing them out + PC outrage = media attention/lawsuit/ remaining unsatisfied customers... Your common sense approach i feel would go against the grain. I mean this is a non story, that is a story.. and now we are commenting..

I think it's best to spray everybody with a so called "getaway nasty smells-spray" before they are boarding. Hahahaha. Or at least have a bottle on board.

LOL
You solved it. All they have to do is add jet sprayers to TSA's walk through X-ray machine and have it spray out Fabreez onto each and every passenger being screened for weapons.

Shouldnt be too costly of a fix. :)

Had a co-worker who loved to cook and left me some wonderful herbs in the backseat of my car. Truthfully, I could tell when he had eaten these foul smelling herbs as soon as he walked in the office. I opened my car door and almost passed out. The culprit which seeps from the consumer's pores for DAYS after eating is called, 'RAMPS'. That may have been the culprit here. They are truly offensive for days on end.

In Dutch ramps (rampen) have something to do with disasters.....hahahaha. But what is it?

Had a co-worker who was a closet alcoholic. Monday mornings
in the office after his binge weekend on booze was overwhelming
as he literally sweated out the alcohol for several days.

Hahaha I think I know what it is.

A new crop of fruit or vegetables does not lead to frantic scenes among the Dutch. This is in contrast to the States, where especially the arrival to the farmers' markets of the very first ramps (allium tricoccum) causes emotional outbursts. Both offline and online. 'OMG, ramps are back!'

Maybe he was..haha- my co-worker eventually caught wind (not
actually) of people laughing at his smell and he started dumping on gobs of after shave to try and mask it- not sure which was worse- the original stench or the cover up plus stench.

My first job out of college was a flight attendant, charter flights in the Summer from Seattle to Anchorage and back. Some folks were pretty ripe, we just sprayed deodorizing stuff.

Sometimes, the flight crew isn't the best at handling situations to reduce escalation. It is like airlines often hire the wrong type of person to deescalate problems.

The family was interviewed by Channel 4 upon their arrival at DTW this morning. The report is coming up on the 5:00 news. www.clickondetroit.com

Wasn't thinking of restrictions, every man, woman, and child for themselves I guess.. Toothpaste?.. Ya desperate times.. desperate measures..

(O/T, Shin, congrats on assisting and helping to identify the UID, can you please link us to the match you assisted with? I read about it somewhere...thanks and again I could have sent your a pm I suppose but I thought it would be much more fitting to congratulate you here in front of all our WS peers (or whoever is in this “body odor” thread lol).

I’ve got the worst luck with this btw, the worst is when they’re wearing a tank top like this guy at the bar recently, I was trying to eat my burger and finally had to move...)
