Thanks Kimster. :) Got it. Code Red and Peanut Butter cookies.

Out of surgical waiting room, only in WS waiting room...much less confused now. :innocent:

Glad they canceled the press conference though because I would have missed it. That is exactly the time I have to go pick him up. I was debating the morality of having them drug him an additional hour so I could watch my press conference... :waitasec:

Glad I don't have to do that!

I believe the parents did all they could do to try to put pressure on those they believe responsible to tell what they know. Since then, they've likely been quiet on the advice of LE or counsel in deference to the ongoing grand jury proceedings. Unlike in the past, I think the sole purpose of these upcoming interviews may be to keep public interest in finding Kyron.

Every day, we log in here hoping and praying it will be the day Kyron is found or that there at least will be some new information that might help. But we're not typical of the general public. A reminder once in a while in the form of interviews/press conferences helps keep him from being forgotten. So in that regard, even a no-news "news" conference or interview is useful.

The milestone dates -- first counted in weeks, then months...school starting...holidays...birthdays -- they have to be so difficult for Kyron's loved ones. I think of how difficult it is for us to see his sweet little smiling face and wonder what's happened to him. I know Desiree, Kaine and Tony's arms must literally ache to hold him.

I don't know how much a heart can take, how someone can get through each day in such situations. I am sure finding answers and being there for other children in the family are powerful motivators. But no one should ever have to go through that...it's just so damned unfair and wrong. Makes me question a lot of things in this life. :(

IMHO, holding news conferences to hold a Q&A or update from the family reduces the effectiveness of true news conferences. It sounds like they'll be relaying the same information, but the avenue through which they relay that information has been adjusted accordingly and appropriately, IMHO.
HI Cypress, It's great to see you as always ;}

As it was noted in this article from KPTV {Channel 12 FOX}: http://www.kptv.com/news/24772877/detail.html, it seems what they were going to talk about didn't really have anything to do with solving the case, or furthering the investigation. The moving of the wall, a Sept 1st fundraiser and Kyron's birthday are topics that all are of interest in keeping the case alive in front of the public, and that's it IMO.

No loss for us as we are all ingrained in locating Kyron and bringing him home.

What I am hoping beyond hope is LE has decided for some reason a family conference would not further the investigation and might even hold it back. It could be they are so close and want things to sit as they are for right now.

I just heard on KOIN News tomoz the parents will announce the new location for the Wall of Hope, but will not talk about Kaine's divorce proceedings. I bet that's it, that they don't want to give any opportunity for the legal proceedings to take the focus off of Kyron. IMO

I already feel bad for them....they're going to be ripped to shreds, again, no matter what they say. They are 2 very brave people. Bless them...

I don't think it reduces the effectiveness.... because we react differently to family conferences and LE conferences. We know that we are not going to get an arrest announcement from Kaine and Desiree. That would come from LE. So we treat LE conferences differently for that reason.

Yet at the same time, we really don't expect much from LE ones either...and often get more information from Kaine and Desiree anyway. :waitasec:

I think this is all they can really do to keep Kyron's face and name out there.

I was beginning to worry about Desiree, since we have not seen her in some weeks. I would imagine she must hit a wall at times, where she just can't put on a brave face. As far as trusting the investigation, what else can they can? We don't know how they really feel about it, no matter what they say publicly.

I feel this way too. My heart bleeds for that woman.

"The parents of Kyron Horman, the missing 7-year-old Skyline student, will hold a press event Friday starting at 11 a.m.
Kaine Horman and Desiree Young will speak about the boy’s upcoming birthday as well as latest developments in the case.

Individual interviews with local and national media members will be conducted. This is expected to take several hours."

WOW! Several hours?

I know those of you able to watch live will keep us informed. Thanks so much in advance! I'll be working then but should be able to catch a bit of it.

Okay, now I am totally confused. Are the local stations going to do a live thing or are they just going to be recording it for the noon/5pm news. I am so disappointed. Maybe
LE will have some news. I wonder if LE nixxed the pc.

Grrrrr....

I didn't even consider that possiblity until you brought it up. But logistically, it would be hard to do live, wouldn't it? That is, if they are being interviewed separately but at the same time.

I'm sure Kaine has it tightly organized.

I'm sure Kaine has it tightly organized.
I sure hope he does. It cannot be easy putting something like this together. My thoughts are with the parents today.

Kaine wouldn't be having to "tightly organize" any pressers if his son hadn't been kidnapped and most likely murdered. Not to mention the fact that the person that he feels is responsible is someone that he trusted with everything. This is not directed specifically at you, but rather to all the negativity towards Kaine in general, which I am so sick of seeing. The man's child is missing. If the worst he does is keep a tight leash on the news stations at a press conference, then I'd say he's doing pretty well. He no doubt feels completely out of control of this whole FUBAR situation. If this is what he needs to do to maintain a shred of sanity, then so be it.

My heart breaks for this man. This has to be the worst feeling in the world.

There was nothing negative at all in my post. Zero. Zilch. It is a fact that the man has controlled the press conferences in the past. I do not expect this one to be any different. Why is that a negative, or an assumption of negativity on my part? It is a fact that can be pointed to with plenty of extant data to prove it so.

No, but data is cold and emotionless, and can strike people as negative in a emotional post. Data is not what people always want to hear. Data can sometimes be perceived as a lack of sympathy, even though it's not meant that way. And already perceived biases can taint the data presented as well, and that's on both sides.

We're just all really emotional here, and sometimes that means anything can be taken the wrong way, even if it's just meant to be data. We are humans used to emotion, not robots used to processing data. It's hard to separate data and emotion because of that.

My prayers continue to go out to KH and DY. Oh Kyron, I so wish you would be found and brought home right now!

Like I said, it wasn't directed specifically at you, and to reinforce that, I'll edit my post to exclude your quoted post. It was a statement about the general negativity towards Kaine, which I've seen time and time again in this forum, and that is something that is not an assumption, it's a fact. People rip that man to shreds constantly, and it's sickening. His child is missing. His wife is the person that LE is focusing on in that child's disappearance. He also has reason to believe that his wife tried to hire a hitman to kill him. He is trying to raise a baby on his own in the midst of all this mess. He had to return to work to support his household despite likely wanting to be hunting thoughout the state to try and find his son. I don't think that life gets much worse than that, do you? If he wanted to kick a couple news outlets out of a PC that he felt weren't helping the situation, I'll give him that without saying a word. I just wish my fellow posters would give him the same courtesy. Again, NOT directed towards you specifically, it's just a general statement of my growing exasperation, which I know is a shared feeling among many here.

Again, I said nothing negative, and I've seen nothing negative posted in this thread.

I am confused...what is the fundraiser for?

NOT being snarky? But LE gave back money didn't they? So I would assume it wouldn't be for official searches/information seeking stuff.

Can anyone clue me in?

Maybe this has something to do with it:

"I am State Representative Dennis Richardson and I write this newsletter for Oregonians interested in what can be done to make Oregon a better place to live and work.

Today, the Oregon’s State Economist released the Quarterly Revenue Forecast that shows a reduction of $377.5 Million in expected revenue for the remaining ten months of this biennium. This news was expected. It is the fifth straight reduction in revenue estimates for 2009-11, and demonstrates that Oregon continues in economic free-fall.

In fact, this is Oregon’s ninth negative revenue forecast in the past 27 months."

No link as this came in my email.

When the presser starts, please begin a new thread. I will not be here for the presser and when I come in to get caught up, I am hoping I'm not going to be scrolling past a lot of chit chat. :) That's why we open a new thread for pressers when they begin.

As for this thread, please stop nipping at each other right now.

There's still a lot of munchies in the vending machine. Enjoy!
