Family Sets Up Website for Kyron - BringKyronHome.org /All Fundraising Information

Has it been verified that the family approves of this website? I find it odd that I couldn't find the actual owner of the site just the hosting company. I went here http://www.domaintools.com and put in www.bringkyronhome.org . I do see the copyright at the bottom of the page , but it does not look right.

Bette, Thanks for asking that, I was wondering too but I was a skeered to touch it for fear just asking the question would be taken wrong, lol.

You're welcome, and I'm genuinely interested in what type of "searches" the donations would fund. I would be happy to make a generous contribution but want to know exactly who would receive the money and how it would be used.

I am certainly not going to say one way or another if it should be stated about calling Kyrons name. This family is desperate. I would be, too. If my child were missing, I'd probably want the nation calling his name out, too! It may not seem safe or logical, but, as I said, this familiy is desperate.

I only hope this doesn't turn in to what happened in Caylee's case -- photos of random children popping up all over the media.

The family is requesting donations for searches for Kyron. Besides what LE does when they have a significant tip, have there been other search efforts taking place that haven't been publicized? Just curious.

PURE Speculation: maybe they are 'desperate' enough now to contact someone with special skills? Like a psychic or a sensitive?

Again, pure speculation, but it could be that there are 'searches' going on that we just don't know about...

OR maybe a private investigator to shadow TH, DD, MC, or Landscaper...someone who doesn't necessarily need a warrant?

I don't just thinking outside the box...

I read a post (yesterday, I believe - can't remember the thread) from a local that said there are a lot of searches going on that the media doesn't cover.

In all honesty, though, I'd donate money towards gas just so Kaine, Desiree and Tony could drive around doing their own searching. I can't imagine the hopelessness they must feel right now!

I don't LE has reviewed this site and not sure why they would. The parents have already admitted they do a lot of things on their own, as far as what they say, etc. And I doubt that if they had they would advocate calling out Kyron's name if one were to see a similar child. I think it is just a site created by desperate parents, just as it seems.

As far as search money, I am a little confused about that too. If the parents are searching on their own, or have hired someone to do so, I would be happy to contribute but this is not made clear.

(snip)...
Then again...I know Kyron's features better than my own brother's. I would not need to say his name. I have seen 100 or more little boys with glasses since Kyron went missing. Only 1 time have I even looked twice. If I wasn't so confident I could recognize him, I might feel differently? ...
(snip)

Seven year old kids change rapidly. Their teeth fill in or fall out. They gain weight. They grow taller. Their hair grows, or is cut in a different style. Their hair gets sunstreaked. They dress in a different style. Their faces get more angular, or pudgier.

My son used to go to sleepaway camp for 8 weeks every summer. When we would visit on parents' day, we always marveled at how little he looked like the boy we took there. And when we picked him up at the end of summer, it was startling to see the changes.

We mustn't think we can identify him that easily. Give a boy a buzz cut, snaggle-toothed grin, big glasses, and a small, skinny frame- he'll look like Kyron. We know what his picture looks like on June 4. No matter how many times we look at that cute little face, that's not going to be the kid we see when he comes home.

Sleepaway camp for 8 weeks?? Never heard of that.

I don't think they have the 'donate' thing set up yet - if you click on the PayPal link, it takes you to the Sheriff's Office site instead.

Sleepaway camp for 8 weeks?? Never heard of that.

Long summer camps are quite common in New England and New York. In fact, the camp that my son attended has been in business for more than 80 years, still run by the same family. His father, uncle, and grandfather attended the same camp.

I think these camps were originally set up to give kids who live in large cities a place to spend the summer outdoors, swimming, sailing, playing games, climbing mountains, etc. It's quite hard for children who live in Manhattan, for example, to have safe and fun summers outdoors. Much better than staying indoors, playing computer games, snacking, and text messaging, and it gives kids a real leg up on being independent. There weren't any kids there who lived on farms or ranches, I'm pretty sure. Our son loved it, and is still close friends with many of his bunkmates and counselors, some of whom came from Australia, South America, and Europe.

Meanwhile, back to the topic!

Off topic--but I read about those camps in book as a kid, and always wanted to go to one. My parents, however, pointed out that we lived in the country, and therefore, I was already in "camp," with a pool and woods and a backyard ballfield and crafts to do at Bible School--except with parents and nosy neighbors instead of counselors and the same old kids we had known forever.

Has the family confirmed that this is their website? You never know on the web is the site is "genuine" unless the person allegedly sponsoring it confirms that information in a media interview. Just because someone says the site is "official" and puts a copyright at the bottom with Kaine's name, doesn't make it the family website for Kyron. If is is, they would be smart to give out the URL so everyone would know, especially since their is a donor button. Trust but verify.

There are plenty of overnight summer camps that last 6-8 weeks. Interlochen Arts Camp (Michigan) is among them, and my DD spent a few summers there. Children as young as 9 years old (third grade) are eligible to attend when accepted.

I remember seeing this website over 1 month ago and I thought it was a fake site because of the weird blip characters in the upper left corner. Why did it take so long for this site to go up? JMO

I wondered about Texas Equusearch for searches actually... they would come out without donations but it would certainly be nice to help with their expenses if they do come out.

Because the article was from KGW and the LOCALS feel KGW is the most reputable news outlet reporting the story....I felt it was likely to be true. Also, Kaine would be pretty quick to refute it if it wasn't true I would think. I guess we will see.

I may be confused with so much information swirling around this case.

But isn't this the website that MC originally set up? Did it go down once and back up? Or what?

I don't think they have the 'donate' thing set up yet - if you click on the PayPal link, it takes you to the Sheriff's Office site instead.

I think it was intended that way because it takes you to MCSO where you can donate to their office for the search. Therefore I think the family is just giving a link to where you can donate.

DONATION INFORMATION

Thanks to the incredibly generous donations from our community,
we do not need any more food or water at this time.

Donations may be made at any Bank of America branch under the name “Kyron Horman Fund.”

http://www.mcso.us/public/newsroom.htm

And if you click on the Kyron Horman Search it takes you to this:

" Kyron Horman Fund" This fund has been officially established by the Multnomah County Sheriff"s Office.

http://www.mcso.us/public/newsroom/monetary_donations.pdf

So there we have it, a link on the Kyron page

http://www.bringkyronhome.org/

takes you to the official MCSO site,

http://www.mcso.us/public/newsroom.htm

and if you click on " Kyron Horman Fund"

http://www.mcso.us/public/newsroom/monetary_donations.pdf

that in turn explains why the MCSO needs the donations.

It is in my opinion 100% legitimate. Kaine and Desiree are not searching on their own it goes to the Sheriff"s Office, where it is pointed out that searchers have also come from Virginia and a search is expensive.

no. at the bottom of the website it says it is registered to Kaine. On the media links already quoted it says that it is run by volunteers for the family.

Here's a thread about the original website:

[ame="http://www.websleuths.com/forums/showthread.php?t=108127"]Bring Kyron Home website shutting down - Websleuths Crime Sleuthing Community[/ame]

I know Becky Owens was associated with that site and that MC was a friend of hers because she defended him in the press.

I don't know if the bringkyronhome url once redirected to the http://web.me.com/owensfamily4/Bring_Kyron_Home/HOME.html website or if MC was directly involved with it.

Very bottom, there is a Kaine Horman CC, and that's enough to seem legit.. for legal reasons.

Whois is only showing the hosting, so whomever set this up made the domain registration private.

I don't think I agree with this one part....

"3. Look for Kyron - Keep your eyes and ears open whenever you're out; watch for children who look like Kyron, and remember that his appearance may have been altered, i.e., no longer wearing glasses or wearing a different type of frame, hair may have been dyed a different color or cut to a different style, etc. If you suspect a child might be Kyron, call him "Kyron" and look for a reaction from the child and the adult(s) he is with."

It might suggest that they feel that TH took Kyron out of love/to keep safe/to keep possession of him. In that event, presumably whoever she has holding him would be unwilling to hurt him.

The thought has occurred to me that Desiree's reported immediate suspicion of TH might have a basis that would suggest this (leading to her conviction that he is alive.) For example - what if (speculation) TH had said something to Desiree in the weeks before the disappearance along the lines of "I love him more than you do"?

If Kyron was close to TH, she might have convinced him that he needed to go along with the kidnapping because otherwise he would be taken from her and he'd never see her again. If so, it's likely that they would have changed his appearance and he'd be answering to a different name - but I don't think 2 months is long enough to loose the "startle reflex" if you hear your name (or what used to be your name) called. Hence the suggestion to call out and look for a reaction.
