They took the time that the hospital graciously extended in good faith to secure a rabid lawyer.
They obviously haven't explored the big picture. Do they have means to move the family across the country, stay in hotels or temporary housing, etc. for weeks, months, or longer? It's all so impractical, but I appreciate that they are acting out of desperation and are not considering the future ramifications of this choice. :moo:
No kidding. Anyone who thinks otherwise, just look at their twitter. Several times per day, askingbegging for donations.

Wait, wait, hold the phone... did I see a NEW donation campaign has been set up? With a $20k goal?
Sitting on hands :banghead:
I don't see any desperation here. The family is taking no action at all.
They haven't visited the Medford, NY facility to see it for themselves or talk to the physicians or nursing staff that would take care of her.
They haven't expressed any interest in taking her home for home care.
They are not expressing any choices other than wanting to feed her and solicit funds.

You are not alone in your thinking, Zuri. I think it stopped being about what's best for Jahi quite a while ago, and is now about what's best for bank accounts. In my opinion, of course.

I wonder if the 'preacher' they have around them is also encouraging the donation frenzy??
That was my thought from the beginning of this and now that I've seen the amount of $ they've 'raised'...it really really gives me pause.
I find it interesting that no surgeons have come forth to do the procedures. Even those that believe in circulatory death and not brain death.
Why do you think that is? The right to life community would embrace the surgeon as a hero to the little person that is fighting big medicine.
I don't even think it's about money (yet, anyway-- it will be in a few months.). IMO, this whole angry, stubborn standoff is about the family "forcing" those that they perceive to have disrespected them, and grievously "wronged" them, to suffer as they are suffering, and force the medical establishment to do what they tell them to do. It's the only way they can feel that they "win", IMO.
It's a David and Goliath thing, IMO. They want to slay the giant. It's about winning. This has very little to do with Jahi-- she is being exploited, IMO, for their agenda. JMO. IMHO. MOOooooo.
I am thinking that previous articles saying this was a "Settlement" conference were incorrect. This sounds more like it. Mediation.
Jahi McMath family, Oakland hospital to enter mediation
A federal magistrate is scheduled to mediate talks Friday between the family of 13-year-old Jahi McMath and the Oakland hospital where the brain-dead girl continues to be kept on a ventilator per a court order.
Each side is slated to present its case to the magistrate during the session. Children's Hospital Oakland argues that Jahi is legally dead and opposes performing medical procedures on a "deceased person." Jahi's family insists that she is still alive, and wants her transferred to a long-term care facility despite a consensus among neurologists that she is dead.

Maybe BUT he was also the one to cancel the fundraiser/rally last week per the uncle.
