New Beginnings accepts insurance and if a patient does not have coverage, there are hardship funds available to help pay their medical bills.

“We are not going to be turning anyone away,” Allyson vows."

She may be biting off more than she can chew because Jahi's family has some pretty high expectation of what they feel they are entitled to and they don't mind going to the media with their complaints whether they are real or imagined. What happens if New beginnings can no longer afford to care for Jahi or if they make a mistake that leads to Jahi's heart stopping, is Jahi's family going to sue them too?

So now that jahi is legally dead and her mother has assumed all responsibilty for her care, does that mean that CHO will not have to pay for this New Beginnings care? Does this affect the $30 million lawsuit because Jahi is legally dead, not disabled and requiring extensive care?

So many questions!

I would think that they will sue CHO for the cost of New Beginnings.

But if New Beginnings makes a mistake that would cause her heart to stop beating or her condition to worsen I can definitely see the family contacting the media and complain about substandard care for their daughter. They are going to have really take superb care of Jahi under some difficult circumstances to please the family and NOT make any errors.

IMHO, she'd say snot

Ya'll, great convo, but Jahi asked her mother to wipe her nose, as she thought it was running. Mom said she told her it was mucus, as she did not want to tell her it was blood.

Terri Schiavo: how her family could affect Jahi McMath case
Terri Schiavo was taken off life support in 2005 despite her family's protests. Now, her family is intervening to try to keep Jahi McMath on a ventilator.

I think this a little misleading as no statements from Terri's family are quoted.....The faculty they claim she is going to was named for Terri Shavio......Dont know and correct me if I am wrong if they have even issued a statement......Misinformation seems to be the theme in this saga.......

This bit was from a statement on the Terri Schiavo Life and Hope site http://www.lifeandhope.com/network-news/

The Schiavo Network did not return calls, but in a statement the Network refutes the hospital’s findings about Jahi, denying that she is dead. “She retains all the functional attributes of a living person, despite her brain injury. This includes a beating heart, circulation and respiration, the ability to metabolize nutrition and more. Jahi is a living human being,” it concludes.

http://www.lifeandhope.com/assets/U...orters-Pressing-for-Release-from-Children.pdf

There is a short quote from Bobby Schindler in the document although it doesn't mention Jahi by name and I'm not sure if it's something general he said or something that he said because of Jahi.

Long time lurker, registering to weigh in. How/why was mom appointed Guardian ad litem? Isn't the GAL supposed to be an unbiased third party?

Adding also that my niece and nephew had uncomplicated T&A procedures done a few years back on an output basis. These were done the same day, and neither had complicating medical histories. Each had scary bleeding situations upon their return home. One was the night of the procedure, the other the next night. Each required EMS squad visits and return to the surgery facility.

Don't know if it's the case with Jahi, but anyone who has asthma (I do) would know about mucus - swallowing it, coughing it up, hearing it "crackling" in your bronchial tubes. My allergy/asthma specialist has many pediatric patients with whom she discusses mucus. I call it "gunk".

dont know we've been privy to the fact she's may have been asthmatic but stats tells us . . . and diabetes

The thing that strikes me most about this video is that Nailah admits she is using Jahi for revenge.

That mother is using her deceased child's body to knowingly cost the hospital as much money as possible - to get back at them - because "they did this to her".

True colours are really showing now. For shame.

ew, more evidence for the Court? IMHO

Ya'll, great convo, but Jahi asked her mother to wipe her nose, as she thought it was running. Mom said she told her it was mucus, as she did not want to tell her it was blood.

According to the story she first used the word in a note.

“She wasn’t able to talk, and she started to write notes to her mother, saying, 'I’m swallowing too much mucus, Mom – am I OK? Mom – I feel like I’m choking,'” Sealey recalled. “And she began to write these notes because she couldn’t talk because there was so much blood. It wasn’t mucus – it was blood. But my sister, the mother, was too afraid to let her know that it was blood and not mucus," Sealey said.

But I suppose if uncle wasn't there he wouldn't know.

I just can't believe that she wouldn't have known that she was bleeding. She was thirteen, she knew that she was fresh out of surgery and had a throatful of stitches. She was supposedly bleeding all over her clothes and everywhere and given cups and buckets to spit it in. She knew what blood was without her mom telling her imo.

Yes, I can see that happening.

However the informed consent that Mrs. Winkfield signed does not seem to have mattered one bit in this situation so I could see a family claiming they did not understand what brain death is or if the hospital caused the death the vent should be kept on. To me that is what Mrs. Winkfield is saying...since they were "responsible" for the Jahi being brain dead the responsibility rests on them to provide the ventilator and continued care.

I think it remains to be seen who did what prior to routine bleeding turning into life threatening bleeding. Did the family provide any food or drinks, like a popsicle, to a patient in intensive care? Did the family handle the suction tube? Did the family have difficulties accepting routine bleeding and, as a result, cause excessive bleeding by incorrectly suctioning blood? How many family members were in the ICU?

If the family in any way interfered with the care of a patient in ICU, then it looks more like the family is trying to cover up their mistake while at the same time trying to shift blame and demand a 30 million dollar award. Personally, I don't think that there is any reason for signed, informed consent to be reversed after the procedure is done.

Would NY honor a California death certificate even if it's different criteria or can she become "un-dead" when she is moved to NY?

I think that's a great question and possibly one there is no clear answer for. I don't know whether one jurisdiction has to give full faith and credit to a death certificate from another state-especially where the laws are different. I'm guessing it's a gray area, assuming there's some method to Dolan's madness. jmo

If Jahi leaves the hospital and is legally declared dead by CA will the state of NY recognize the death certificate? I am assuming they will. If she is declared deceased doesnt NY have laws regarding who may transport/handle the deceased? Will the facility she is going to have to have a funeral home license? Sorry, I know that sounds morbid, but I am looking at the legal problems.

Going through the uncle's twitter...he started getting the media involved on the 14th.

I am not trying to be petty here but they had a normal size Christmas tree in Jahi's PICU room.. right in front of where the gloves are. How serious can the family be. jmo

She's called Jahi's GAL in Dolan's petitions but I think that's all we know.

I think this could have been their first major screw up when the admitted to doing the suctioning. Even though they were trying to get the hospital in trouble, it may have backfired. jmo

With the current amount of money the family has raised, they could take Jahi home and pay for 28.57 days of skilled nursing care. I did not figure in the cost of supplies, equipment, ventilator, physician, respiratory therapist though. $1,680.00 per day for an RN through an agency at $70.00/hr. This way they would not have to travel and the family would have the support of their church and friends. Seems like a more plausible solution to me. And it is a heck of alot warmer. IMO

Btw, I didn't add in the cost of utilities...

Our agency rate for an RN is $150/visit for home health. This is the quote given if a patient/family wants to continue care aft insurance has determined care is no longer necessary. This is for intermittent care.

Jahi McMath: Attorney tells TV station child will be moved by deadline

Hospital spokesman Sam Singer said the facility has been made aware of the plan and the pledge made by Dolan to have Jahi in another facility.

"We are taking him at his word," he said. "And we hope he keeps it."

snip

Court documents said the approximate cost to transport Jahi was just shy of $32,000; the Jahi McMath page at the gofundme.com website said Tuesday that $47,842 had been raised for Jahi by Sunday morning.

Not many donations going on since then. jmo

Sorry- I was going by other stories:

"While the bleeding continued, Jahi wrote her mother notes. In one, the girl asked to have her nose wiped because she felt it running. Her mother said she didn’t want to scare her daughter by saying it was blood."

I think there is a huge risk to them by putting her in a patently unsuitable place like NB. Her degeneration is only going to happen faster.

Who is going to prescribe the drugs needs to maintain her blood pressure? Who is going to do the proper kind of skin care and toileting hygiene?

Them being CHO? I believe the court order absolves CHO of liability after releasing Jahi's body to her Mom . . . . but what do I know

I believe CHO has been trying to relieve itself of this liability since 12 Dec 2013 & since then has been providing care to a declared brain dead body
