I posted a photo of her hand from January 3 and the skin was loosening. Her feet either don't have the same deterioration, or the video is from early Dec.

Or it isn't even her. :twocents:

I don't know how much of this is faith based. I still think a lot of it is denial, a lot of it is backing themselves in a corner as Donjeta put in better words than I can, and, most of it is inability to be the one that makes the decision. I know I could NOT pull the plug on my DD, no matter what. I just don't think I could.

I did meet a young man many years ago at work that thought he was messed up because of his family. Very faith based, and not a very popular faith. His parents (not in a big City, so this is one of the very small faith following groups that tend to live away from others) kept his deceased brother at home for 4 days praying for him to be returned to life after a fatal outdoor accident. Needless to say, 4 days was enough to let them know it was not going to happen, no need to explain the why... The young man was actually a fine, intelligent, hard working young man, this was just the largest mind altering experience that plagued him as he was there, saw it, participated in the prayers. He is married, working, and a good father now, but he was forever altered by his experiences then.

That is why I know faith here is just a thread to hang a hat on. I think they know what is going on, they backed themselves in, may want $$$, and seriously, what mom ever could make the choice?

Our sons Doctor spoke to us when they found leukemia. He was already a quad. We also spoke to oncology specalist at University hospital. Why he developed Leukemia was a mystery, I still feel from so many Blood trans.. or the meds.. Joey spoke to the Drs. and nurses responding with his eyes. He did not want any treament for the Leuk.. we could have fought for it but we honored our sons wishes. We could not see him suffer anymore. He was an adult. It broke our
hearts to lose him but he didn't go alone for part of us went with him~the Day God took him home. I have NEVER lived one day since without crying. Joe was my life my child I prayed for all my life. I am so glad I have his daughter and his grandson. I promised my Joe We'd care for her. Mom chose a man over her..I hurt so bad, it took guts and love but we did it~no more suffering ~~and he did. Thanks for listening, it helps me..

What are the blue things on the child's legs? When are they used, and why?

KZ said this about that a couple of pages back

She is wearing a sequential compression device on her calves. It's like a massager to stimulate venous return, and try to prevent sluggishness and clots in the lower extremity peripheral venous system. Her physical body is probably getting pretty good care.

They put them on after my c sections. They have motors that go on and off to prevent blood clots.

Who released the video? I find it odd that Dolan is not out there trumpeting the video and making sure new agencies are broadcasting it as proof that she is responsive, (albeit a spinal reflex)

My guess...it's a video that already was submitted to the court and explained by the medical professionals who testified. Dolan would know that, obviously. So he's not going to directly put it out there himself. He can't help what the family does, though, right? RIGHT???

There have been many excellent posts in the last few pages, but this is the heart of this issue for me. It is extremely disheartening to see people viewing reason and science as the enemy; and to see celebration of that ignorance being incubated via social media.

On a lighter note:

(Relevant, but also irreverent humor so may be offensive to the religiously inclined.)

Mr. KZ is a huge Tim Minchin fan! Thanks for that!

It is the cold stimuli video clip of the girl's foot. Again, this is a known response to stimuli not dependent on the brain stem.

This drives home the idea that there is a huge segment of the population that is unwilling to accept scientific fact. Are they being obtuse or do they not have the capacity to process higher levels of reasoning?

MOvement from brain has to be on command. Otherwise its reflex. I wonder if she has passed anything from nose or mouth yet.:moo:

What do you mean by "passed anything from nose or mouth"?

This doc filed on 12/30 says Dolan was in possession of a video taken in the previous 24 hrs showing Jahi moving her arm and leg while her mother's voice was nearby. If this is the same video it's almost a month ago.

Edit: correction: not arm and leg, I should have said head and leg.

<respectfully snipped>

I think that the mother has an "everyday" level of faith: she believes in her god, prays, goes to church, and believes that this god could make Jahi whole again. I don't think that these beliefs were the driving force behind everything that's happened - I think the lawyer may have exaggerated her level of faith as part of the way he's presented the situation to the courts and public.

I think that much of this terrible situation came from the mother's feelings of guilt about pushing her daughter to have the surgery, and I think this guilt caused her to deny that her daughter really was gone six weeks ago. At this point, based on the mother's lack of updates or presence in MSM or SM, I think she's probably coming to terms with the reality of the situation but has been backed into a corner and can't see a way out.

I suspect that the uncle and his desire for the big bucks (no 250K chump change for him!) has also had a lot to do with this situation. Had he not been in contact with the lawyer, I don't think Jahi would be on a ventilator six weeks after being declared brain dead.

All of this is JMO, of course.

Come on already... show feet with purple nail polish and no face. Come on.

I was afraid to say it. ;)
My initial thought was why didn't the videographer show Jahi's face then pan down to her feet to show it was indeed her.
IMOO this could be anyone....if it is Jahi I'm sure her foot movements were because of the spinal reflex thing.

Interesting. There is no arm or leg movement either.

I edited the previous post, I should have said head and leg, not arm and leg movement in the
video Dolan presented to the court.

I can understand them not wanting to publish a video of her face. I wouldn't.

Under normal circumstances I would agree. IMO, there's no proof this is even Jahi.

I don't mean this to sound offensive but I can actually understand how someone uneducated or medically ignorant could believe that this is proof that Jahi isn't dead.

Having said that, the family would have been advised by the hospital that it is a reflex. If they are still clutching those straws it is because of some other factor (eg denial, desperation etc).
