Numerous Suffolk police detectives and officers who helped disgraced former Chief of Department James Burke cover up his beating of a heroin-addicted thief have been arrested and pleaded guilty in secret proceedings in federal court, according to a motion filed in state Supreme Court.

The motion, filed on Wednesday on behalf of the man whom Burke beat, Christopher Loeb of Smithtown, seeks to undo Loeb’s guilty pleas to grand larceny and drug possession because of the beating and police perjury during a pretrial hearing in 2013. Loeb was sentenced to 3 years in prison in 2014.

As someone who has not delved into this case as much as some, the arrest and possible coverup seems rather self evident to me. I thought so a while back while back while watching videos. In my opinion, the simple answer is usually the correct one, although there may be more than one involved in this. Ugly, very ugly.

Please pardon me if this link has been posted before, but here is legal info regarding Johnny Pius's murder 9 years after the murder in which more details about James Burke's and his brother, Michael Burke's testimony was included. James and Michael Burke are brothers. But, I am not sure that Robert Burke, whom some think was a good suspect and who lived across the street from Johnny Pius, is/was related to James and Michael Burke. Maybe just an odd coincidence having the same last name?

Ah that's a new name to me. Just looked it up. I wonder what years Joey Buttafuoco had the mechanic shop on Long Island? I know he had it early 90s with Amy Fisher incident, then was banned from owning one in California. Did he set one up again in Long Island in 2000s? The Dark Minds documentary on LISK implicates someone who owns a Mechanic shop as being LISK, and placing the weird dolls on the grave sites

I know he had it early 90s with Amy Fisher incident, then was banned from owning one in California. Did he set one up again in Long Island in 2000s? The Dark Minds documentary on LISK implicates someone who owns a Mechanic shop as being LISK, and placing the weird dolls on the grave sites

Due to the noteriety of the case ....Im guessing it will always be known as Joey Bs

I think I recall the Dark Minds episode your talking about ..... I think the mechanic someone suspected .... actually lived...worked close the Babylon. They showed a woman "blurred out" ..... and she said she had been to his house and saw similar dolls...

But like a lot of people here, I wouldn't be surprised if LISK did.
It's pretty amazing how many posts (and mods) on that site live very close to where the bodies kept appearing.

Hawkshaw- IIRC JB was given a 48 month sentence. I hope there are more charges and he stays behind bars where he seems to belong. Any insight?

Burke is still in Brooklyn MDC. It is a hold over prison for people going to trial and if convicted sent to a permanent prison. I don't know the timelines on when each phase is supposed to happen..

It could mean the FEDS still need him for other prosecutions or making others sweat he is cooperating. We know he is a little rat that would do anything to stay out of jail. He did it in the Pius case and I believe he did it in my son in law's case.

Now look WHAT HEdid in the LOEB case when he put officers at risk while getting them to lie for him.

Burke is now a proven liar and one who would not hesitate to get others to lie for him to protect his own skin. This I what I believed he did in my son in law's case when he got other cops to lie for him in my son in law's frame job. He also got his long time criminal neighbor to lie for him to gain a false conviction.

One of those cops was a Lt.James Hickey. I believe Hickey is one of those cops secretly arrested by the FEDS. My information is that Hickey will go to jail no matter how much he cooperates. The LIES finally caught up with them.

This whole appointment of friends to high places due to their political ideals is so foreign to me.... it probably does happen here in Australia too.. I think I need to be more observant......

Why is it that I think Schaffer and Mr Brewer had a close association....... I understand a political figure would accumulate alot of FB friends... But just as with any other person who initially starts up a page...usually the first few friends to be added are those closest to the person opening a FB account to begin with.......

Im sure Mr Brewer was amongst the first few posters writting comments on Mr Schaffer's FB when he opened his account...

And alot of this corruption seems to keep coming back to this Democratic Party....who just happens to have its main fund raising campaign monies through an address at Oak Beach.......Is that still where campaign donations are going?......4309 Oak Beach?

Puggle - Before I ever posted a comment here, I read this thread through and through. But here I am again reading it all over again and your comments make me want to respond, even though you made these months ago.

Since you are from Australia it's a hard concept to describe, NY/NJ. This area of the country has had corruption going on not just for decades, but for a century. It is heavily populated by Italian immigrant's and it began having organized crimes way back in the 30's. Long Island had it's share of mobster's living there with plenty of political connections being formed and the criminal way of life became expected.

Here it is a century later and no doubt it's just become a generational thing that these things happen. I'm really not surprised at the corruption of SCPD or for that matter NCPD. It's become a way of life and it's ingrained in those of us who live here. What would shock me if they weren't corrupt. That's the truth!

I think when LISK happened and it made front page news, or even for that matter when Shannan first disappeared and it was making the news, I no doubt believe these "officials" all started getting nervous. Then LISK happened and that's when all the shadiness really freaked some people out. Having all those dead bodies was going to be a major news story and they knew it and didn't want that kind of publicity. Yes, maybe they'll do a little housecleaning now but the lives of those corrupted by power and greed, their lives will go on and all of this will be forgotten.....
