Fired Michigan coach Sherrone Moore in police custody after dismissal.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Sherrone Moore, the lauded head coach of University of Michigan’s storied football program, threw away his $30-million career after his affair with his assistant came to light — and culminated in his stunning arrest for alleged assault.

The 39-year-old married dad of three’s promising career came to a crashing end quickly Wednesday. He was booted as Michigan’s head coach that afternoon and, within that same hour, he was busted on criminal charges for
allegedly breaking into the home of his executive assistant, Paige Shiver, with a knife in hand.

Rbm.
Sounds like he was losing it ?

'This conduct constitutes a clear violation of University policy, and U-M maintains zero tolerance for such behavior.'

After citing cause for firing him due to that 'clear violation' of school policy, Michigan will not have to pay Moore his buyout clause.
After the attack, Moore allegedly fled the scene in a black Chevrolet Tahoe before cops found and detained him roughly an hour later at the Well Church at the corner of Ann Arbor Street and Willis Road.

Earlier on Wednesday, Moore had been fired as Michigan's head coach over an affair with a staffer. The Wolverines employee has not been publicly identified.

Well at least the university won't lose as much money this way.
If they'd offered for him to just step down, Sherrone should have taken it.

Then he could have looked for work elsewhere within his field.

But nooo......
He had to act the fool.
Omo.
Respectfully @Chimera ….. not sure if the coach SM was losing ‘it’. Seems he was losing ‘her’. SMH. MOO

This is hugely embarrassing for Michigan alums and fans. Not much more I can say.

This is a very odd situation and right now we only have Michigan's side of the story. Will be interesting to hear what a police investigation finds and from those who aren't involved in the huge business of college football.

While I have no doubt Moore did something Michigan at the same time was likely wanting to fire him anyways and now they have a way of getting rid of him without having to pay him his buyout.

Police from Saline, Pittsfield Township and the University of Michigan responded to the 3000 block of Ann Arbor Saline Road shortly after 4 p.m. Wednesday, less than an hour before Moore's firing was publicly announced by Michigan over an alleged inappropriate relationship with a staff member.

A Michigan football staff member's listed address matches the area to which police were dispatched.

In the audio, dispatchers and police discuss taking complaint calls from at least two people, including Moore's wife, who according to the audio told dispatchers that Moore was "suicidal ... for losing his job today."

Ann Arbor ― The day after Sherrone Moore's arrest and firing Wednesday as the University of Michigan head football coach, students and city residents wondered about the impact and the university's reputation.

William Harper, 21, a UM senior from Detroit, said he’s not a huge football fan, but doesn’t think the allegations against the football coach help the school’s image. UM said Moore was fired for having an "inappropriate relationship" with a staff member.

“It doesn’t look good,” Harper said Thursday morning while walking near the university’s Student Union. “I don’t think it will keep students from coming here or supporting the team, but it doesn’t look good.”...

Optics more important among football fans? Sad

Ann Arbor — No arraignment time has been scheduled for recently fired University of Michigan football coach Sherrone Moore, who was arrested Wednesday for an alleged assault.

Moore — who has not yet been charged with any crimes — has been in the Washtenaw County Jail since Wednesday, a short time after he was informed of his firing by Michigan athletic director Warde Manuel, but before his firing had even been publicly announced...

In the wake of the University of Michigan firing football coach Sherrone Moore, athletic director Warde Manuel's job could now be in jeopardy.

Manuel made the official announcement on Wednesday, Dec. 10, that Moore had been fired after two years as head coach after an investigation in which "credible evidence was found that Coach Moore engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a staff member."

The firing calls into question Manuel's choice of Moore to replace former coach Jim Harbaugh − who led the Wolverines to a national championship in 2023, but left following an NCAA investigation into allegations of sign-stealing. Moore served as interim head coach for six games while Harbaugh was suspended, and Manuel hired him to take over the job in 2024...

IMO, Paige needs to be fired as well.
Absolutely. Along with some others. Whoever approved the huge raise this young lady got and didn't ask a lot of questions needs to be gone also.

I follow college football a little, and Moore's job was considered to be safe. Michigan had a decent season, finishing 9-3, which was just about how they were expected to do. Even among fans, he wasn't considered to be on the hot seat (although there was a fringe that didn't like him, but that's true for every coach).

Additionally, this has been a very turbulent year in the coaching ranks, with a lot of coaches either changing jobs or getting new contracts from their schools. Michigan is pretty late to the game here, and in fact, are in a bit of a bind now as there really isn't an obvious candidate to pursue.

So, no, I don't think the firing was orchestrated just to get rid of him because of his on-the-field coaching performance.

I’m really wondering if the girlfriend was the one who blew the whistle on Moore, especially if she was the one he was stalking for several months. He allegedly DID show up at her house with a knife; maybe he was looking for revenge?

BUT… if she was the one he was stalking, maybe she tried to break it off and he wasn’t having it? Maybe the big raise was an attempt to get her back?

All this is totally speculation on my part.

This timing of a lot this would be nice to know. Questions apparently were being asked 6 months ago or so, and that huge raise the young lade got should have been a big red flag. Now UM also has to figure out what to do about her. They will likely have to settle with her to get her to move on and not sue. The Athletic Director had warning that Moore was not stable and still just called him in a fired him and let her walk out. Did they warn the wife and the girl? Doesn't sound like it. The whole thing just sounds like one disaster after another.
