Jason Amato, brother of Grant did not ask for his brother's life to be spared.

Those who provide victim impact statements, including Jason, are not allowed (per Florida Statute) to mention any opinion about sentence:
"Characterizations and opinions about the crime, the defendant, and the appropriate sentence shall not be permitted as a part of victim impact evidence."

Such evidence shall be designed to demonstrate the victim’s uniqueness as an individual human being and the resultant loss to the community’s members by the victim’s death. Grant Amato will spend the rest of his life in prison after jurors in his first-degree murder trial Monday night opted against recommending the death penalty for the Chuluota man convicted of killing his parents and brother in January.

Brother of Grant Amato: 'I will rise stronger and smarter than before'
On Monday, Jason Amato, Grant Amato's other brother, spoke in court.
"It's so hard to go through the grieving process when there are multiple losses and uncertainty in the future," Jason Amato said. "Through all this, though, I'm a proud Amato, and I will rise up smarter and stronger than before."
Jason Amato was one of several state witnesses to deliver impact statements in court on Monday.

Jason Amato said what he misses most is being able to speak with his mother.
“It's been 208 days. I really miss her voice. But I am a better person because of my mother,” Jason Amato said.
When asked by Grant Amato’s attorney whether he still loves his brother Grant, despite all that has happened, Jason said yes, he does.

I am intrigued by FL cases, and especially the cases more local to me. . . Amato, Nelson (Fulford), Jonchuck.
The next trial I'll be following is FL vs Drejka:
FL - Markeis McGlockton, killed following parking dispute, Clearwater, 19 July 2018
I'm in Clearwater and was planning to attend some of the trial. Court TV is covering the trial, so I may not attend in robust fashion. I would like to get my own sense of the jurors. I will see what I feel up to doing next week.
