OMG, I have chill bumps. This was sent out just a few months ago. This is just horrific as more information comes out as to all this timing/problems/exponential increase in problems since 2018 being stated.

ETA: Once other condo association owners see all this re end of life for many parts of a building.... egads... move out now as those assessments that are multi millions WILL COME.

I found that so chilling as well... "end of life for parts of a building".

Exploding industry in Florida for sure! What you need to know about HOAs in Florida!!!

You wouldn’t get that view unless you’re in a high rise building.
Which seems to be the big draw to these expensive condos.
(No need to worry about flooding in the garage or cracked balconies - just look at the view)

Hi MimosaMornings.... The Titanic had beautiful ocean views, too. (I'll just back out of the room now.:()

Ah yes, nothing like a scenic view of a collapsing pool.

Yes, it is all about the view, the beach, the sound of the ocean and the lifestyle. I recall at one time it was important to be above the 9th floor to avoid the noises of voices, etc. from below. The lure of high-rise beach living can make a person forget the dangers.

Thank you for getting approval for these videos. I watched this channel over the weekend and found it very informative.
I was coming here to suggest these videos, too. He is very effective in translating complicated engineering concepts for us "lay" folk.

He makes me wish I owned a home that required his services, just so I could do business with him, lol.

Does anyone know if the search pace would actually change that much if it were determined that there are no more survivors? It is still treacherous, and they have to sift through the rubble for clues as to what happened as well as any remains or personal effects of residents. I'm not sure that MORE searchers would be helpful. ??? JMO Also, have they been able at all to tell if all the condos completely fell to the rubble or if there are partially remaining rooms of condos that are just hanging there, where victims may be?

Agree, they were extremely informative and learned so much. He was very careful in the "approved by mods at WS" videos your responded to..to state he is not saying what happened or pointing fingers, just going through the floor plans and letters and photos etc to this day updating often.

It's wonderful that WS has folks here who find such folks as this forensic guy.

I think at some point the operation will be declared recovery and no longer rescue. I doubt the pace will change but focus and search procedures will change. But, right now I wonder how the searchers can determine if survivors remain inside the building?

Maybe cranes and cameras and sonar? Who knows? JMO

Collapsed Surfside building shook due to construction nearby, new lawsuit against condo association alleges

The lawsuit, filed by building resident Steve Rosenthal, alleges that "numerous complaints" were filed about the condominium shaking and noted that each of the complaints occurred after research showed signs of sinking in the land around the building.

Oh geez...It just gets worse by the day! Pointing fingers at the condo complex next door ??? That building was actually addressing & completing repair work. Don't the surviving residents of CTS realize the repairs they had pending could/would have caused as much noise, shaking, disruption and required off site parking to everyone else in the area?? Unless they can assure us they had lined up silent jack hammers, I think this is the kettle-calling-the-pot-black. The condo complex next door is not responsible for the concrete deterioration that was noted 3 years earlier. Nor is the neighboring building responsible for the incorrect slope of the pool, the planters that had exhausted their useful life or the soggy roof. SMH
Might as well say it now....I think CST insurance carrier is going to fight any claims, citing failure to maintain the property nullified their
contract. I think we are going to need a bigger courtroom.

I saw them mention voids and sending cameras into the voids. And special sound sonar devices. Plus the live human sniffing dogs. They are working from below and above.

Thermal imaging and/or thermal radiation would be my guess.

I don't think this is what the lawsuit is getting at, unless I am missing something. I don't think they are pointing fingers at the neighboring condo, but rather saying that the shaking should not have been happening and should have been addressed. Am I missing something?

Isn't the oval condo complex next door a new-build? There was a 10-storey hotel on the site which was demolished in 2015.

Good.

Also realize the costruction is going to mean the pool likely has to be removed and rebuilt and all the pool deck has to be taken up, along with the piers underneath it. The parking garage will have to be closed to remove the floor and replace all the piers.

A lot of inconvenience. A lot of noise. A lot of bother. Not a good time to be trying to sell a condo.
You would be surprised. A lot of buyers want to buy something that needs work. They buy, then renovate. Of course this would have been a bit of a different animal since the building needed a rehab. If I was a buyer I would be looking for a good deal in a situation like this.

The effects of this are going to be interesting on the condo market for sure. Normally I would say condos would take a hit but in this kind of market I am not convinced that would be the case.
