I don't know that he was hearing any voices. There were a couple of early reports but they could very well be false. He seemed to be able to control his behavior prior to murders, which to me doesn't suggest any uncontrolled mental illness. All of this to me sounds like planned premeditated murders he was planning for a long time.

The information came from Law Enforcement to the media, as per link.

I think the 'hearing demons' comment came from one of his public defenders after his arrest. I suspected it was a
prelude to using a defense claiming 'insanity'.

Sure sounds like he planned the murders for a long time.

What planning are you referring to?

From what I have learned at WS if is very common for gun lovers to have tons of them??

I am thinking this wasn't particularly planned, though it may have been a fantasy for a long time. He liked guns and purchased them, perhaps not with a particular goal in mind but just because he liked them, had the money, and knew how to get them. And, then, the fantasy was something he could actually accomplish rather than just think about, so he did it.

I don't see a particular planner here - just someone with guns who decided to kill and since he had guns, he did it.

(I think the smoke alarm went off because of gunpowder, not because he pulled it. Unless someone knows that couldn't happen, that's the scenario that makes most sense to me.)

Without any names given, means anonymous sources. Nothing more on this has been published since.

I'm still wondering......Where did he get the money in the last year to buy 10 assault type rifles? Did he have access
to the trust fund from father's malpractice suit? Did his mom, Lynda, give him money for guns to placate him?
doesn't sound like he was actively working in the period between leaving HS and his mom's death.
Any ideas?

Completely disagree. Sounds like he was planning this for a long time to me. We have people claiming he was telling them he was going to do it since years ago. Regarding fire alarm, it reportedly went off prior to the shooting. If that's true then gunpowder didn't set it off.

He was working in a dollar store. That doesn't pay a lot, but if he didn't have to spend it on anything else, he could have saved enough.

Early reports claim the Snead's encouraged him to get job at Dollar Store- since Thanksgiving 2017 when he moved in with them. I almost think the more recent article mentioning his working there 2 yrs. ago could be incorrect. Not sure.

And he could've had money from his mom as well. Whatever the source, he had it. He purchased the guns from a shop, so he obviously had the money.

We also have Sneads claiming they didn't know much about him. So would they know if he had a job already?

Wanting to do it (fantasy) doesn't mean he had an actual plan. He just doesn't strike me as someone with a detailed plan, but rather as someone who responded to impulse. The impulse might have been there for years, but not a particular plan. ykwim?

He seems impulsive, in-the-moment....not calculating.

Doesn't seem to me that way whatsoever. Many reports of him behaving badly but then he moves in with the new family and supposedly behaves well there. He could control his behavior if he wanted to. He was purchasing numerous weapons. Doesn't suggest to me fantasy at all, but long term planning.

I'll let it go, but being impulsive doesn't mean 24 hours a day. He had moments that were good....and then moments that were obviously horrible. He behaved at ROTC, behaved enough to have a girlfriend at one point....but also threw things at his mother.

But, whatever. Whether he planned it or not, he was able to accomplish killing 17 people.

Not just moments. He lived with new family for 3 months, and they are claiming that he was behaving well all this time. I presume it was because he had the plan and didn't want anything to interfere with it.

Or that nothing triggered the impulse to kill for that time.

Ack, I said I would let it go. :)

It states in the MSM link the information came from law enforcement sources. It is my understanding that would probably be from the investigators interrogating NC after he was taken to the PD after LE caught him?
If he was treated for mental illness a year before this shooting he had dealings with a mental health facility in regard to that i would think, but LE stated they couldn't say what it was for, and i would think because it is protected information under HIPPA law?

Wasn't it stated that he took some guns with him to the new place he went to live at? That means he already had guns that could of been acquired over a period of time?
