I thought of that as well. I always sleep with a tv on in the room. It could definitely drown out an intruder.

I sleep with a TV on.....and it definitely lights up the room

Must have missed this the first time it was posted. Can any of our sleuths help a girl out? What is a MKII system? Who is 'Roger"? and how would he get a copy of the lie detector results? I may be very wrong about this, but i just don't see it...i hope this is not true.thanks for any help.

If they want 17 to be ok, they have to change the law.

I wonder if Ronald kept his gun in the house or with him in the car? He has a Baretta, IIRC. The turning on the light thing makes me think that IF it was an intruder, he sure wasn't worried about maybe being seen OR shot!

I am also wondering if there is a landline phone there or if they do as many young people do and only have a cell phone? Did she have a cell phone so she would have a way to call 911 should there be an emergency? Evidently, she called 911 on Ronald's phone because I believe that during the 911 call he said something to the effect about hanging up since 'they' were not coming. FWIW, I don't think the GF even has access to a phone until Ronald got home regardless of the fact that he said the GF called him as he was pulling in the driveway and asked why she was calling him - to call 911. I am going to get the cell phone number from the incident report and see what I can come up with - if anything. The smallest omission of the truth would alert LE.

I really really really really really want to know WHO came with the brother and nephews that afternoon to play. THAT is our "key".

Small town, EVERYBODY knows EVERYBODY!!!! The POI came with the brother. They (Misty, bro and "friends") are all sitting on the porch or outside so they can watch the kids while they play. POI excuses himself - has to go to bathroom. Goes inside BY HIMSELF - commits layout (including bedding) to memory and UNBOLTS that deadbolt - leaving door knob handle lock locked (those can be picked with a credit card). Or - the AC man left the door unlocked and Misty just didn't check it.

As for the POI got a couple of ways I'm leaning with this. Could be that it was a "former friend" that dad ratted on - dude does time - its been 7 years now - could have just gotten out recently - and SMALL TOWN - could have been friends with dudes that came over with brother or whatever. Also, what if there's this rivalry over ex? Could Haleigh actually been SOD's child? Could there have been a question about that?

I believe on a previous post there is a link that shows dockets where the father was awarded custody of Haleigh and her brother and there is also a paternity test showing paternity of both children to Ronald. I have to wonder what Crystal did to LOSe custody of the children? Must have been something pretty bad.

With his record, how does he have a gun? I realize FL is a bit lighter than NC on gun laws, but, he is a previous felon.

Yes, there is only one bathroom in the actual home. I am not seeing any chimney vents, stacks, flus, whatever on either picture.

Now, mind you the layout may be a 2006 or 2007 model and the actual home looks much older - I would venture to say late 80's maybe early 90's. So, with the diagram layout - there may be subtle differences - like the windows on the kitchen - also notice the 3rd bedroom in the diagram has a window on the back wall and the actual home doesn't have a window there - just an older model. Skylights look like they have been "owner added". That front porch has seen MUCH better days and looks to be at least 10 yrs old - if not older. I think the diagram layout is VERY VERY close to the actual layout of the home.

IIRC this was made in either 1985 or 1987. Would have to go back on the property tax site and look at the specs again. Since there is depreciation on value I think the site shows the age.

I found her marriage license long after the discussion of the area SOs, and with your post, made the connection!

But, if you look at the waiver standards for FL statutory laws, technically their relationship is legal. Not to mention, unless someone has luminoled their sheets, the realtionship is only illegal if they are sexually involved.
I know, I know, the chances that they weren't having sex are very low. But is does happen. At one point, my bf was 25, I was 15, we held off for 6 months until my mother signed consent. It does happen. Just because they are togehter, doesn't mean they are "together".
I don't read much into the age difference either. Fiance in 43, I am 23. And there has never been any concern about him and our children.

After all that we now know about second-hand smoke and it's effects I think the statement fits just fine MissOtk.

I think people equate the word abuse with physical violence.

In my state they have talked about issuing citations to people who smoke in cars with children present. How long before they start checking out what goes on in the home?

OT - but I live in Canada...and in the province i live in a law was recently passed that makes it illegal to smoke with kids in the car

I've never heard of this organization and it's capabilities, interesting. I sure hope it's not true that they were involved, but it's as possible as anyother theory, and they had opportunity more so than anyone else.

This possible John's connection with the grandmother Marie and maiden name and this relative being a rso, how does this come into play? Are we thinking he has seen Haleigh in the past and possibly stalked and planned this abduction? Just wondering what the big deal is, I'm missing something as usual.
