Not allowed to talk on the phone??? I am not very knowledgeable on custody dictums. How does this work? She had visitation two weeks prior, but no phone conversation? Anyone have any insight for me on this?

That would be a "house rule" not something set up through the courts. The courts encourage co-parenting as much as possible regardless of who has physical custody. Assuming there is no abuse on either side.

I seen that and kinda got tickled because in bio mom's photos, there is a huge picture on the wall of the marijuana leaf, including the nice black light under it..

No, her name is Marie Griffis (and so is Chad's last name, apparently). If you search myspace and put in Marie Griffis, the grandmothers profile is the only one that comes up. Therefore, the last name Marie used when she registered her Myspace was Griffis.

So are they step siblings maybe? Could Crystal's mother be married to Chad's dad?

Remember Sleuthers, this is the time to make note of little comments you read in links, or even hear on talk shows. Example, the grandmother saying the GF was not suppose to be around either Haleigh or children. {From Swag's post above: One of the grandmom's (don't know which) said that gf was "not supposed to be around the family"!!!}

That is noteworthy!

These little gold nuggets get lost, are deleted, and you will know you read it, but where? You will go crazy looking for that one comment.


I hope little Haleigh is found safe and sound so we don't have to worry about having a documented case for Sleuthing. It is purely secondary to the task at hand.

I've checked court records for Putnum County, Florida and there's two cases for Ronald Cummings and Crystal Sheffield. One was in 2005 and in that one Crystal had applied for a restraining order against Ronald Sheffield and that restraining order was denied.

The second case filed on 09-16-2005 was a paternity case, which was disposed on 11-07-2007. In that case it was determined that Ronald Lemyles Cummings was the father of both children. The court awarded custody of the two minor children to Ronald, with visitation by the mother, Crystal Diane Sheffield, to be at the discretion of the father in regards to the safety of the children. The mother, Crystal, was ordered not to take the children out of Florida. In this case, the court received correspondence from Nancy Griffis.

I wonder how Nancy Griffis is related to Crystal's mother, Marie Griffis and to her boyfriend, Chat Griffis????

I don't remember seeing them earlier either, but, if you look at the first photo it has a comment on it that was posted on October 24th, 2008. So, the photos were obviously put up before that date.

The pics of the wreck were on there when we started looking because I looked at them. I immediately noticed how many pics she had of her new baby, Chloe, compared to her other two children. I found that odd.
