The father probably wouldnt let Haleigh talk on the phone b/c it upset her. What little girl wouldn't want her Mommy after talking to her on the phone?

I too am very concerned about the "preditor" status. I realize that he is under supervision but is it 24 hour? Does he wear an ankle monitor device? I sure hope so.

Unless someone was sleeping in his home with their eye on this man 24 hours a day (someone with LE), I wouldn't trust any kind of supervision..

My ex-brother-in-law raped a 10-year-old girl who lived 2 hours away. He saw her on the weekends, in spare time, when she was around her stepdad visiting. He groomed from there. What I am saying is that no stone, not one, should be unturned in all of this. It is plausible that a man who sees a 5-year-old girl every weekend, every other weekend, can delve into her life enough to drive 2 hours to abduct her. It's happened, it happened to my family.

He had Jessica in his home and she was still alive when LE first went there. Where there is a child missing I say leave no stone unturned.

I have to agree. These men have already been convicted of the crime and released or they would not be registered SOs. Their 12 peers put them in that position when they convicted them...not us.

I AM hunting witches or SOBs, if you will!!! There is an innocent 5 year old girl missing and any one could be responsible at this point.

I agree with you, and I certainly didn't mean to come across sounding like I disagree with any of the conversations here. I think the discussion is helpful. I also think that these are the first people that LE will check out, (if they haven't already), and like others on the thread, I would also be worried about the SO who haven't been discovered yet. I sincerely hope she is found, and I do think they should search the homes in the area before they rule anyone out.

FWIW, I do see a distinction between a 24 year-old involved w a 17 year-old, and a child predator or child molestor. However this 17 year-old does need to be in school, not shacking w this adult male IMO. I don't think predators from as far away as bio mom's (an hour and 45 mins. away) are likely to be involved. I've posted myself that an intruder may have gained access via front door if kids were left alone for a period during which Haleigh awoke, opened--but failed to relock--front door, and intruder exited by rear door. And if an intruder broke into his house and kidnapped one child I sure as h#ll hope LE wouldn't confiscate dad's Beretta (if it's legal I mean). JMO

I agree. In the majority of stranger abductions, the victim lives within 3 miles of the perp. The perp usually has legitimate reason to be in the area. I sure hope they checked these guys out in the very early hours of the investigation.

I see where you are coming from. But...this Dad could easily be on the Sex Offender Registry for his involvement with the 17 yr. old because it is against the law in his state.

Here's yet another take on the story!!

Fox News supposedly has the police report, and this is a snip from and link to their story:

Haleigh, her 2-year-old brother and Croslin went to bed in the same room in the family's mobile home at about 10 p.m. Monday night, investigators said. Croslin told deputies the little girl got up between 3 and 3:30 a.m. to go to the bathroom.

About the same time, Cummings arrived home from work. When they went into the bedroom, he and Croslin say they discovered that Haleigh had vanished.

The back door was open, but investigators didn't find any sign of forced entry.

Cummings said his daughter is afraid of the dark and wouldn't wander away by herself.

But according to the laws in FL, from what I understand, if the father were brought to trial and convicted of living with the 17 yr old G/f, he also would be required to register as a sex offender. Doesn't seem fair to me.

I am sure that is one of the first things they did. The father also said he took a polygraph and passed with flying colors. I thought I also heard him say so did the GF but Nancy cut him off as usual

OMG! I just had a wicked thought. The name is similar to Caylee's. The timing. The area within a 100 mile radius.

What if during the search for an "Alive Caylee" someone ran across this little girl and began to watch her? They hear someone calling her Hayleigh Ann-Marie. They think she shows a resemblance. They see a 17yo "mother".

When Caylee ends up deceased...maybe they decided to take her for whatever reason. There are some crazies out there.

I completely understand where you were coming from. I was hesitant about putting the pictures up for that very reason, I didn't want it to look like I was on a witch hunt and the last thing we ever want to do is involve innocent people in our investigations. But these guys information is already made public knowledge by the state that convicted them of a crime and while I do agree there are innocent people falsely convicted for crimes they did not commit. I still believe that (2) convicted SO's living within walking distance of this child home must be given the up most attention.

Technically speaking, the father in this case is a felon (not yet convicted, of course) and a sex offender who would have to register as well. LE should be looking at him just as hard as they look at any of the other registered offenders in the area. Why should he get a pass?
