Don't be alarmed. It is a common practice in a few churches especially in the South. They are considered Evangelical churches and this is a way of praying.

They've been hit by who? Did they say? Dad? GF?? Mother before dad got them since there was a custody case and he got custody because of some domestic issues, IIRC? This bothers me too. I ask about when and the mom because my son is four and he thinks that every day before today is "yesterday" But if it wasn't the gf, I don't think it is related to the disappearance, so might not be worth the time to find out at this moment.

Concerned that if there was physical abuse going on in the home it could be related. Like you said, who was hiting them? Could it be a case where she was hit too hard one time to many and died? Could this be a cover up for this? Just throwing out all possibilities. There have been cases where child was killed by family member due to abuse and then they tried to cover it up.

Oh, I know what it is -- I actually grew up in one and remember being absolutely terrified when folk would run up and down the aisles, etc .

Yes, church I used to go to, at prayer group there where a couple people who spoke in tongues. Not the norm there but there are people that do that.

Several of the Church of God churches in our area speak in tongue. I am roughly 1-1/2 hours from Putnam County and from a relatively small town as well. This is common practice in several of the Church of God churches and also the primitive-type churches.
