I find so much in this case confounding. I don't understand WHY the rooming arrangements were what they were. I would think that minor girls would be bunked with other minor female relatives. And statements from family members after Anna's death as revelations of the step sibling came out didn't clear up my confusion, but have only added to it. If Anna's ex boyfriend is to be believed there were already issues between the victim and her stepbrother so was the family unaware of these concerns or did they simply downplay them in the pursuit of the picture perfect blended family?

Exactly! No matter what Grandma says Anna didn't feel the same.
Why in the world was a teen girl sharing a room with a teen boy on a family cruise? With her own brother? OK.
With her stepbrother who she was afraid of, who had demons, and she knew for how long? A year or 2 at most?
Recipe for disaster IYAM.
Re: blaming the cruise line for the stepbrother drinking. How about blaming the kid himself OR one of the 4 adults he was vacationing with?

I have no idea what the family dynamics were, but they certainly look complex. I refuse to speculate, even with the statements that have been released. My sympathy is with all of the children in this family.

...Do you know if she still was able to spend time with Tabitha after they divorced? Since Tabitha claimed Chris was violent with their kids, I wonder if that included Anna too and was Anna scared of him.
I get the impression that Anna, for some reason, felt abandoned by both of her mothers, Heather and Tabitha. It's really a sad situation for Anna. All adults surrounding these kids seem to think that their actions don't affect the children. I can only speculate about Chris' behavior towards his children, which would include Anna. They probably knew to keep in line. Shauntel's oldest was not raised around Chris. So, if true, he talked back to Chris or somehow stepped out of line to the point that Chris got physical with him. I'm glad that the child had some place that he could go and live to get out of that crowded and hostile environment.

Thank you, that was quite interesting. He is saying that to kill a person with a bar hold, the assailant would need to keep on chocking the victim well after they fall unconscious, which very much points towards intent.
And knowledge/premeditation.

I think most would not know to "keep choking"

So Tabitha was not a port in the storm. She raised Anna more or less, beginning when Tabitha was just a teen, but did not keep her safe. Generational SA is far too common. Tabitha’s mom tried to bring charges against Chris for statutory, but Tabitha’s father is a SO. Tabitha’s other extended family seemed to be the ones speaking out initially.
I believe that there are a lot of dark secrets in all the players surrounding this family. I envision Anna as being a lone sheep surrounded by a pack of wolves. She never really stood much of a chance, IMO. She would have, had she survived until high school graduation and enlisting in the Navy. That would have been her ticket to get away from all of this dysfunction.

His father may also have issues, all of the adults seem very dysfunctional. I don’t think a healthy person would have married Shauntal.

Yep. I thought about this, too. Then, again, he might be just a hard-working guy who met her in high school and thought that it was his job to work and provide for his family. She was the one who stepped out looking for excitement. I don't know, but I do know there is more to their story, too.

imo that very much seems most likely but I feel like somethings off with all these story's, I haven't seen anyone mention anything of cameras? do we have any footage of where she was when?? the casino account from gma just seems weird to me, she comes back all dressed up just to blow $20 then leave right after? maybe I'm just tired but seems odd to dress up for a 5 min interaction yk
I have wondered who was paying for these family cruises, Daddy or the grandparents?

Shauntels oldest son had someplace to go, Anna, unfortunately, did not. Just the dining room.

Turns out, she didn't even HAVE HER OWN BED.

At least not one that was RESPECTED.

GET OFF HER BED, T.

And we wouldn't be here.

How do you know that? That's awful!

And in many homes the kitchen has access to the dining room and the dining room is often shared with a living room or family room. :(

I haven't seen anything about who paid... I believe if I'm not mistaken gma talks about something regarding pricing when she talks about room choices?

I'm just referring to when he comes onto her when she was facetiming her bf... and likely murdered in her own cruise bed.

He had no business being near either.

STOP SLEUTHING THIS FAMILY.

This kid hasn't even been charged but members are sleuthing the entire family and ripping a strip off them left right and center.

Family members are not POIs or suspects. They are not to be sleuthed. Members may discuss what is said about them in MSM or what they themselves have to say in MSM ... other than that they are off limits.

Major cleanup will take time and will have to be ongoing while this thread remains open. Please don't expect personalized reasons for post removal.

"The teen’s 16-year-old stepbrother has been identified as a suspect in her death, according to court documents filed by his parents."

This article also goes into jurisdiction and issues with investigation of crimes on cruise ships.

If the FBI is involved, IMO there is a lot going on behind the scenes we do not know about, plus there will be a lot more we will likely NEVER know (we have all followed cases like that, I think).

I am sure that people have been told to stay quiet about anything they know. Obviously. Do we think Anna had zero friends? I sure haven't seen anything except the ex boyfriend, and haven't heard a peep from him since then. No one wants to ruin any chance of conviction, if there is any chance at all. And I say that because if the 16 yo had "demons" he was fighting, to me that means past issues others would have to know about, maybe therapy, etc. There could be grounds for an insanity defense.

And remember, there are two 9 year old girls that I would expect are traumatized and a 14 yo boy that is definitely traumatized. However much the public wants to know about all of what happened, it would be a disservice to them for media to throw out partial truths that get twisted and warped into who knows what until all the facts are put together for an actual case.

I have several theories on how it all went down, but I can wait to find out the facts, personally. Nothing I think is going to help the case and that is what I usually come here for.
